New Year's Eve and Day

Okay, to be honest, I don't feel like writing a long entry. Besides, I can tell you in a nutshell what I did both days:

NYE:
Woke up around 8:30, got to work around 10. Caught up on email, caught up some files, etc, talked to boss, you know the drill. Left around 4. Met up with [profile] aquatwo at Uwajimaya. He drove me to IZ. I was at IZ from 4:30ish until 11, when Eli came and picked me up. We came home, watched fireworks over the lake from our living room, and fell asleep.

As for playing Extreme, the lines were so long I don't really remember playing very much, only a couple sets, maybe once an hour except when I jumped on with other people. My first set of songs was Mobo Moga, Pink Rose, and V. I don't remember much besides that, except passing Saints Heavy to get it on my memcard, and playing A since it's cool, and playing the DDR/PPP songs with DJ, and being forced to play Bag a few times, and watching people do all kinds of crazy stuff. Played a lot of random Bemani, including a bunch of sessionning - I was always on KBM. Right before I left, I played a DDR set with Cheese Thrower, and then we went to the PPP machine and got a HUGE group to do an Easy Busy line dance - it was like, me on the machine, and Cheese, Laura, Rayna, Amber, Tanya, Pixxiy, and who knows who else behind it. Was fun. Got to talk to a lot of people. It was funny because Lith got his CS degree from UT Austin, and he was like "blah blah not as good as CMU" over and over again which was sort of weird. And hmm, I re-met Ryo, and Tekku, and Grouchboy, and The 5-Legged Man, and Numi, and others from the BBS. And many people were there in general, like almost all the usual suspects except Farren since he had other new year's eve plans. Nykkel was there but left early, and Keevon and Okaeshi had a double-lining scheme going on, and Max and Keiichi and Kiefer were there, and Tada and Jerrad, and Derick and the Meitricks people were there for like a little while, but saw the EX lines and left. Dylan The Villain was there playing like as much as possible, but he left way early too.

NYD:
Woke up around 11, ate a ham sandwich around 11:30, chatted with people online, showered/changed/etc, and went to IZ again, getting there around 2:30. Saw various people there like [personal profile] zannah and [profile] aquatwo and met [profile] thatenglishguy for the first time. Saw lots of other people in general - the Portland crew was up here and Zerocool is in town from Florida.

I worked on Para a bit, and played Session with people from Portland a lot, notably Mike on guitar and Mechdragon on drums. Farren played a second keyboard with me once in session, too, and we had Jeremy on drums. Oh yeah, I played DDR alongside Jeremy a lot, which was really fun. Hmm, more excitement was seeing Keevon get an AAA on "1998" Heavy... I was coming back from the PPP machine and was like "huh, he's getting a lot of perfects, isn't he?" Got out my camera just in case, and woo! he got an AAA! Foy and Lith were both trying to do really well on Legend of MAX... I think I saw Foy get 52 seconds into it his very first try! He got it up to 1:14 at some point I think. Zerocool was like, AAing all this random stuff on 1x, too. People played A a lot today, I think that A, V, and Bag are the most overplayed songs at IZ right now.

I honestly wish I could remember any songs well enough to comment on them. I love Mobo Moga and Pink Rose, and I love Miracle Moon, and A is actually a lot of fun for all of the hype, and Air is just WEIRD, and stoic is a pain in the ass, just the ending... La Copa De La Vida was really fun, and Daikenkai is HARD but I really like it. OH, and the Butterfly Oni steps fucking rule, even if I failed them on my first try. :) Hmm. Random mode hates me, too - I played two non-normal sets today, both with Ryo - the first was Random Heavy Nonstop. The first song it picked was Burning Heat. ARGH! Second was Candy*. ARGH! Third was... slower but more annoying, Be In My Paradise. Then it came up with Gamelan de Couple as the fourth and that song is a major pain in the ass for me. Oh well. In the other order it might not have been so bad, but BH is just harsh as a first song. The other thing I tried was Naoki Neo-Standard, with Ryo. We both got about halfway through the third song (B2UOG Heavy) when we were like "FUCK, THOSE AREN'T EIGHTH NOTES!" at the same time and failed out. But we got high scores on the machine. Haha. No numerals so I entered "DRAB" instead of "DR4B".

I guess I have to look up my memcard to see what I played sometime.
I also have to decide if I want to schlep to IZ again tomorrow, or wait until the weekend. Hmm... anyway.

I left the arcade around 9:15pm, gave Keiichi a ride home since his car is dead, then drove home myself. I stopped at McDonald's on the way for food since I was STARVED. Came back, have been computer goofing off and stuff since... resizing and renaming my pictures from the last day or two. Hopefully I'll have 'em posted tonight.

Oh yah, I have a new LJ picture. Two more, but I can only post with one here, y'know?
