Whoops, haven't updated since Friday afternoon, huh.
Not a lot to say about Friday night. PH meeting was a little frustrating, but of course I can't say why. We went to the Celtic Bayou afterwards with Adam and Rehana and Andy. We would have had the Fords too, but they gave up and went home literally 2 minutes before someone's table cleared up and left. Whoops. I was still feeling grumpy until some random sequence of talking led me to come up with what might be something brilliant if someone else can pan it out. As usual. :P
Saturday, Mike actually watched Ohio State play a basketball game on TV in the morning, after telling me every few days how the team was now 20-something consecutive wins with no losses this season, and I'd been like "That's great, but have you actually SEEN them play?" Of course, this was the first game they lost, so now he's never going to watch them again.
It was a pretty crappy windy rainy day out weather-wise, and I was finishing up some of the code I was writing for my Reteaching Myself 15-211 project, so we ended up just staying at home for the afternoon. Went to George and Chris's in the evening, and we made tacos for dinner and played games; we brought Qwirkle and they put up Dominion, and IIRC Chris won both games, not that it matters. We hung out talking for several hours after that until I realized it was past midnight. It was fun.
Sunday, our only plan was to play Whirlyball in the evening with Kiefer and Fire and their friends... so in the afternoon Mike made pepperoni bread and I worked on various stuff. At least we walked to Safeway to get the stuff for the bread, so I got my walking in.
Whirlyball, btw, is this ridiculous game that's kinda... in some ways it's almost like Quidditch except that there's only one ball. You have 5-on-5 teams of people who are all riding solo bumper cars and carrying jai alai rackets, and there are these goal boards on each side of the court with a circle area in the middle that is electronically sensitive, so if the ball -- a wiffleball -- hits the area of the goal, it buzzes and you get points, it doesn't have to go through anything, it just bounces off. So you spend most of your time running back and forth on the field in your bumper cars and trying to get the ball when your teammates either fumble it or miss a shot and it rebounds and so on, and get it to your goal and shoot (which also misses a lot, as it's fairly hard to shoot with a jai alai racket while in a bumper car with people hitting you).
It was actually pretty fun once you started to get the hang of how to get a wiffleball into a jai alai racket and how to throw and catch it. I was on the winning team most games, although I don't think I personally made that many goals, maybe only 2. I had a lot of assists where I'd toss to Kiefer and he'd make a goal, something like that.
It was also a late birthday party for Kiefer apparently, with a very specific group of of their friends (but we got invited along at the last minute as they'd asked us and we'd asked them what they were up to this weekend and it seemed like the best idea was for us to come along for this in case they needed more players), so there was also munchies and also a chocolate cake and all. And for me there was a bunch of games of Attack From Mars, and once I got the hang of it again there were several replays, which was nice, but I miss Medieval Madness.
Hmm.
Mike's cat Inky spent most of Sunday vomiting up half the house, which kinda makes sense when you realize that she also has a hobby of eating plastic, but this was enough puke that Mike called the vet and took her in that afternoon, so we had to sequester her for the evening on Sunday and split food between the two cats, and then today I've also had to deal with that as well. Bleh.
I mostly spent today trying to get some things done for a trip I'm taking tomorrow -- I'm going to go to San Francisco tomorrow, I have an interview on Wednesday, then I come back to Seattle on Thursday and leave for the east coast on a Friday-Saturday redeye to visit my brother and others for a week or so. Should be fun.
I'm going to go pick up Mike from work and we're going to go to Cheesecake Factory for dinner, but I already told him this year he wasn't getting anything insane for Valentine's Day like last year, so.
