I'm home

Wakayama 954 -> 1112 Taisho

Decided that going to Kishi wasn't worth it if Tama-cat wasn't going to be there (I did get a photo of the Tama-Train which I'll put up tomorrow). Instead, I went to the Osaka Dome for lunch and a little shopping. Didn't really find what I was looking for exactly, but saw the new Buffaloes stuff that was just unveiled yesterday, and had to put up with an idiotic store clerk trying to talk to me in English for no apparent reason.

Oh, and lunch was McDonald's at the dome, where I had their "Texas 2 Burger", which has chili in it which is actually somewhat spicy, enough to surprise me.

Dome-Mae 1229 -> 1233 Nishikujo
Nishikujo 1243 -> 1247 Osaka

(Actually, I should have been on the 1237 out of Nishikujo but misplaced by Seishun 18 pass momentarily and the doors closed while I was searching my bag. Grr.)

I bought yatsuhashi at Osaka station and got the station stamp and was on my way home, basically.

Osaka 1300 -> 1421 Maibara
Maibara 1430 -> 1504 Ogaki
Ogaki 1511 -> 1639 Toyohashi
Toyohashi 1641 -> 1715 Hamamatsu (really 1643 -- the train before got in at 1641)
Hamamatsu 1720 -> 1831 Shizuoka

Lots of running with the Seishun 18 pack, but I got a seat on every single leg of this ride, so there. (Actually, the only leg I stood on at all, really, was Osaka->Wakayama the night before.) I was unfortunately on the wrong side of the train to take photos of the gorgeous sunset we had, and then on the Hamamatsu->Shizuoka leg, I was next to a somewhat loud and annoying old man, who spent the trip talking to the people to my left, who he was not travelling with in particular. I fell asleep for a while with my iPod on, and awoke because the old man was leaving the train... and he left his trash there. Which the old woman who had been sitting to his left was like "What a rude old man." I got out a plastic bag that I'd intended to use for my own trash but only had a bandaid wrapper and a receipt in it so far, and put the guy's trash in it, and the old woman ended up taking out his trash when she left.

In Shizuoka, I did what is actually my normal routine there now, which is to get omurice at the place on the 6th floor of the department store there, and then to take the Magic Train, which is the once-per-day Shizuoka->Tokyo local with the comfy seats.

Shizuoka 1930 -> 2242 Tokyo
Tokyo 2244 -> Akabane 2313

Whee.

I really need to make a map showing this ridiculous route.

But yeah, I'm home now, for the next 9 days or so. I'm really getting terrified of leaving Japan, and the more I hear horror stories about the US, it's not helping any.
