Friday, Saturday
Jul. 11th, 2010 12:41 amSo, I finished up the exhausting week at school. Didn't do anything Friday night -- came home, got some dinner from Ito Yokado on the way, and just relaxed. I watched the Fighters game over the internet to some extent. Masao Kida got the win for the Fighters and in his hero interview they asked how he felt when Koyano (co-hero) hit his 2-run homer. "I wanted to give him a big hug." And then he turned and gave Koyano a big hug. Heh. "Do you have a message for the fans?" they asked him, and he replied "Well, tomorrow and the day after, there are guys who are MUCH better pitchers than me starting for the Fighters, so I think you will enjoy those games a lot more than today's... thank you for cheering for me anyway!" Cute.
Oh, I dyed my hair Friday night, too. Since it got cut short, I figured that was a good excuse for it. It's kind of a more black shade of brown, but still not black black.
I slept late today. It was hot out, so after debating a few choices of things to do I decided to just not do anything. Went to Ito Yokado again to get some drinks, which I didn't get on Friday, and some lunch. (Oh, and some plastic cases to put papers in from my Japanese classes and whatnot.)
Bizarrely, at Ito Yokado, I ran into my friend Ogura who I watch college ball with. She actually lives in a different part of Akabane so I suppose it isn't THAT strange. Anyway, she was telling me how she went to see Meiji play against the Hawaii Island Movers last week, and so I'm like "Hey, btw, have you ever been to the Meiji Daigaku Stadium? Is that where they played? Is it hard to find? I am going there tomorrow to watch high school baseball, one of my graduated JHS kids is on the Rikkio Ikebukuro HS team..." so after she was trying to explain to me where it was, etc, she's like "Why don't I just go to the game with you?"
This is both good and bad. Good because I can't get lost if I'm with someone who knows the place well, and also good because I don't have to watch by myself... and since Ogura's son was also a high school baseball player, she probably knows more what to expect from this game. Bad because if I do see my former student, I'm not entirely sure how I explain why I'm at the game with a random 50-something Japanese lady. Eh, whatever. "We cheer Big 6 ball together. She likes Meiji. Shrug." But even so, I haven't actually seen said student since he graduated in March, so I'm not sure how he'd react to seeing me again anyway.
Oh well.
I spent the rest of the afternoon at home. "Watched" the Fighters beat the Buffaloes again. I put that in quote marks because really, I put a load of laundry in and then lay on my bed under the airconditioner, staring at the ceiling, and mostly listening to the game more than anything else.
I played some PP and then went to Ikebukuro to meet up with Ai for dinner -- since Doug was zonked today, I suggested that Ai and I could go get sushi (Doug can't eat fish). So we got sushi. Oh man, I ate a ton of sushi. But it was good. Then we moved to Cafe de Crie or whatever it's called and hung out for a few hours talking about life and work and travel and all that stuff.
I should be asleep already -- to meet up at the train station at 8am means getting up at my normal 6:30, I think.
