The only thing I regret is that I didn't count HOW MANY trays of raw beef and pork our group of 11 hearty eaters went through last night at the shabu-shabu fest:

Yeah, so it was another evening of all-you-can-eat goodness with [personal profile] seishinbyou and Akudaikan and a whole bunch of DDR people. Of course, I don't play DDR anymore and haven't since my arch and knee troubles in 2003-2004, which makes it a little odd, but whatever. I went to get coffee with [personal profile] februaryfour beforehand and we did karaoke for an hour and a half, and then we met up with the gang (including her [personal profile] doubt72 who did not join us for teh singing) at the Akihabara Showa-dori exit, and found our way to a relatively dark alley with a hole-in-the-wall basement place with lots of shabu-shabu. Most of the crowd was foreign, but about half of the conversation was in Japanese anyway, as pretty much everyone lives here and is mostly more fluent than me. I sat next to a dude named Ethan who is from Portland and knows [personal profile] catbus and is now studying in Sapporo and went to a Fighters game last year, so I was talking to him a bit about that. I also tried to convince the guy sitting across from me that he should quit being a Six Sigma trainer and become an ALT instead as it's a lot less stressful. (The amusing part was when I asked what he did, I saw the look on his face of "Uh... how do I explain this to a girl", and I said "Look, I studied computer science, you don't need to dumb anything down for me" and he said "You ever heard of Six Sigma?" and I'm like "Uhh... I was a senior software engineer at GE for a few years...")

Anyway, I still have no desire to play DDR. But it was good to see Aaron again and give him chocolates which I think I technically still owed him from 2003 when DJ and I came here and we forgot to bring them to Muthos.

This is mostly so I can remember what the hell the place was that we went to, since I'll never be able to find it again on my own. On the other hand I think I prefer MoPara anyway. This place had some weird noodles that were like harusame but weren't. I already forgot what they were called, though. Either way, 3000 yen for all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink isn't too terrible, I suppose.

I got home at midnight and crashed. Everyone was seeing me yawn and thought I was drunk, but I was like "...no, I'm jet-lagged..." In some ways it'd be nice if I could stay at this routine of waking up at 6:30am every day, really.
