leaving my house to go to the airport...
Jan. 12th, 2010 12:24 pmI am essentially packed except for my computer bag, which I always seem to leave until the last minute. I'm also waffling on whether to bring a few various things, but mostly on the side of "don't bring".
I am thinking of NOT bringing my Nikon D200 with me this trip. It's heavy and I rarely use it in the US. I looked last year and all I really used it for was stadium tours and Mariners fanfest, so it seems kind of unnecessary, really.
On a sad note, the "holy shit I need a new lens" problem from last winter when my 18-55 broke might have just become a lot more urgent as it looks like the glass on my 70-300 is scratched. I can't seem to wrench the filter off of it to actually examine it, but... no idea how the hell this happened and it seems to be something I might as well leave until I get back to do something about. Either way, it might be the case that I *really* need a new lens now rather than just "shit, it'd be nice to have a working non-zoom". Still don't think I can drop $1000 on an 18-200 VR though :(
I did stuff a bunch of Stitches and whatnot in my bag, so I'll try to figure out what to do with them exactly when I get to the US.
Also, ew, it's raining. This sucks even more because I went out in the rain to turn off the water main in the house :( It's cold and horrible out there and the water main thingy is full of slugs and other insects. Ewww. At first I couldn't even turn the thingy, but eventually I succeeded.
Well, packing the computer now and going. I'll still be reading from my cellphone a little for the next 5 hours, and after that, whoosh, off to the US I go...
