So in theory I think I was supposed to go to school today, but apparently not. Grr.

I went to Saitama-Shintoshin in the early afternoon to see the Gokusen movie, being as I could see it for only 1000 yen on Ladies Day. It's a little hard for me to say anything about it because basically, the plot mostly involves the boys from the 3rd season, and a new bunch of 3-D kids as well... Kuma is still in it as always, and 3 of the guys from the 1st season make cameos at the end, and Kamenashi Kazuya (Odagiri Ryu from the 2nd season) actually is the costar of the movie pretty much, with slightly-more-than-cameo roles by Tsuchi, Takeda, and Hyuga from the 2nd season, and of course the entire Oedo yakuza clan is still intact, as well as a few of the assorted teachers who have been along for the ride. But other than that it vaguely depends on you actually knowing who the hell all of these new 3-D and former 2-D kids are, so on that note it kind of fell flat. However, despite that, I could still enjoy it as being a 2-hour episode of Gokusen, essentially... there are still the typical gags that make the show funny in the first place. On the other hand, this really could have just been a TV special.

(I vaguely have to wonder why Matsumoto Jun didn't make a cameo as Sawada, given that that's pretty much the best role he ever played. Not that I think there's anything wrong with Kamenashi as the co-starring student teacher, but the class leader roles have always pretty much been shadows of Sawada. So I guess in that sense you DON'T need to really know the 3rd season kids, because they're all just based off the original characters anyway.)

Anyway, after that I went down to Sagamihara to watch a minor-league baseball game. Sagamihara is fucking far away from here and the stadium is like a mile and a half from Fuchinobe station, and I walked it, so I got there at like 17:45 for a 18:00 game, Fighters vs. Searex. The stadium is pretty big, and they do actually have a few top-league games there per year, but for this it was all unreserved and a weeknight, so I just walked in and sat behind the Fighters dugout, front row. Snapped a few photos, said hi to a few familiar faces, watched a game.

Sadly Hideki Sunaga had a bad start and gave up 5 runs in the first two innings alone. The Searex starter was Atori Ohta, whom I adore, except when he's pitching against the Fighters. Atori is from Teikyo HS and so is our Sugiya, so when Sugiya was up to bat we were yelling things like "don't let your sempai defeat you!" and whatnot. Unfortunately Atori hit him with a pitch, in the leg, and Sugiya had to be carried off the field. Oops. So the Searex won 6-1.

After the game I stalked players with everyone. Got to chat with Brian Sweeney, after I pretty much waved him out of the team bus, heh. As usual I sounded like an idiot, and there are things I wish I'd said and things I wish I didn't, but whatever. He signed a shikishi for me though... I felt bad since he came out to talk to me and everyone begged him to sign stuff. But he actually wrote "To Deanna" on mine.

The Fighters bus left and after that some Searex guys were also signing. I got Keijiro Matsumoto's autograph on a shikishi... I asked him in English to be different. He gave me a really funny look. I still think he's a total jackass and I thought he was a jackass when he was at Waseda too. Whatever. What SUCKS is, the two other guys signing were Kajitani, and umm... Takamori :( I didn't realize it was Takamori until too late. It was dark and he was out of his uniform and I didn't recognize him... but he and Atori are my favorite Searex players so I feel like a big moron for not just getting him to sign my shikishi and worrying about who he actually was later. Oops. I hope there'll be another time someday...

Oh, and Sweeney's starting tomorrow in Hiratsuka, and I can't go due to having plans to go to Chiba for the JBC meetup. Crap.

I found out that Ryota Imanari broke his hand a few weeks ago during a Seibu series. That's why he hasn't been playing and didn't go to the Hokkaido series and so on. Damn, that SUCKS, but even moreso because I haven't gotten to talk to him in months, and among other things I want to bug him to sign my jersey again. Alas.

But, I rode the bus back to Sagami-Ono station and partway home with a lady named Tomoko who apparently knew who I was from Kamagaya and whatnot, and she's the one who told me about Imanari and everything. It's always good to talk to new people and find out new stuff.

When I got home, I found that someone apparently ripped my name sticker off my mailbox. I have NO FUCKING CLUE WHY. I don't know if it happened when I was gone for a week or two and my mailbox filled up with crap and maybe people thought I moved away, or if it happened today. Either way, WTF. I put up a new piece of paper with my name and taped it on, and we'll see if it stays there... if it disappears then I will have to kindly put up a note telling people to knock it the fuck off.

In other news, I found the paper to send in for gaikokujin kyufukin, so crap, I should fill that out soon (assuming I can figure out enough of it or find an online translation). I'm trying to budget out my next two months... and at the same time, I want to do a LOT of stuff before baseball season ends (there's only a month and a half left or so, WTF!). We'll see, I think I can manage.
It's written mostly by people who don't actually go to baseball games in Japan.

...

And maybe that's the way it should be. But the fact is, I no longer post things to Marinerds, choosing to put all of my game experiences here instead, because I'm mostly just writing about myself and my experience at the games, rather than what the players did, and I can't tell whether anyone who doesn't know me personally will actually give a shit about that kind of crap. I've been to 83 games this year, all over the fucking country, and am on target to hit 100 within the next month or two. I've had the time of my life doing it. But somehow I feel like nobody actually cares about that kind of stuff, the adventures of being a white girl in a vast sea of Japanese people.

The funny part being, I started Marinerds because everyone was sick of me posting so much about baseball here. Ugh. What the hell should I do?
