dr4b: (duck)
I'm trying to think what I can actually say about today. I spent a lot of time on Skype talking to various people. It's interesting, since previously the only person I ever really spent a lot of time on Skype with was my father :(

In the afternoon I went over to Sam's house and he lent me a bicycle! It's... interesting. It's too tall for him or his wife or kids to ride, though it's actually a reasonable height for me, but I need to raise the handlebars or something because I was really bent over while riding it, and my legs felt cramped. Might just take some getting-used-to since it's more of a road bike than I'm used to, 6 gears, folding bike, actual shocks and all. If it doesn't rain tomorrow I'm debating a 10-mile ride to Lotte Urawa to watch the SeaRex-Marines minor-league game. However, it's raining rather hard right now and earlier in the evening there was even an earthquake. (I was playing Puzzle Pirates and my house started shaking, and then my network kicked out, and people were like "what happened?" and I'm like "Earthquake?")

Oh yeah, and Sam and I went to the bank and he basically set me up with a... bankbook? Not exactly. Basically, we typed in all of this stuff with some of my info and some of his info and told it "this Deanna person wants to be able to make payments into this Isamu person's bank account", and basically it spit out what looks like a normal bankbook, only it turns out to be some weird paybook variant where I go there and put in this bankbook, tell it I want to pay money to Sam, and put money into the ATM, and MAGIC! I can pay my rent to him that way. I think it's so super-cool how Japan can totally function on cash like that. Just like paying my bills and buying baseball tickets at the convenience store around the corner.

That is, however, the only real excitement from today. I stayed home the rest of the day, because the weather sucks; I've been doing things like updating my resume and talking to people and eating really unhealthy food (read: Velveeta Shells & Cheese). Oh, and Cursed Islands. I dunno. This state of limbo is getting really weird for me -- I think the busier I am, the more motivated I stay, so being unbusy turns me into a slacker, although I kind of need the downtime to sort some stuff out in my head anyway, so it's not necessarily a bad thing. Next week should be better for getting some momentum, since I have things to do. So we'll see.

Also, it's almost 3/14, 1:59:26am! (I'm going to wait until that point and press the post button.)
I wonder if I can make it to Sweets Paradise or somewhere that serves pie (that isn't Anna Miller's, though it'd do as a last resort, sorry [profile] nykkel). That'd be kind of funny... Quest For Pie! The story of one girl and her travels through the city of Tokyo, attempting to find a slice of things mathematically delicious...
