I'm a legal alien... again
Aug. 6th, 2008 01:02 amI got my gaijin toroku card updated today, so now it says I'm allowed to stay in this country until August 4 2009, and I won't have to carry my passport with me again. The entire process took like 10 minutes... almost an hour if you count riding the train to Kawaguchi and back, and walking to the city hall and back (it's like a 15-min walk from the station). Surprising. I picked today to do it because it rained a lot, so it was only like 27 degrees out instead of 33-35 as it was yesterday. (That's 80 instead of 90-95.) I can't believe 80 degrees seems cool to me now. WTF.
Also, yeah, today is officially one year here. I did Sprint 7X Lesson 17 today, which was my first sprint class when I first started. How weird.
The new guy at Heiroku, Kanno, is really funny. Unlike last week when Onodera actually got my order wrong (and I was going to apologize for my pronunciation), this week Kanno yelled out my rolls order, and the old man in back got the order wrong. So Kanno apologized to me a ton. Then suddenly he was like "Wait, can you eat wasabi?" I can't exactly explain why, but that struck me as really funny, especially because then the head waitress is like "She comes here twice a week, she's a sushi-eating machine." A minute or two after that the old man came out to switch places, and Kanno was like "Wait no, I've only been working out here for 2 hours, can't I stay here another 30 minutes? Pleeeease?"
I remembered to buy the sports dailies about Masa's 200th win for once. Yay :)
Oh yeah, and like the moron I am, I accidentally somehow left my fridge opened a crack today. I think the door got caught on the rug or something. Fortunately I didn't have anything in there that could really spoil except some mango pudding; these days mostly my fridge is used so I have cold soda to drink when I get home.
I heard that former Fighters ace Tsutomu Iwamoto threw out a ceremonial first pitch at the Mariners game for Japan Night, which is really awesome.
Oh, on another note, I think
eub's birthday is today, and as such, if you live in Seattle you might want to check out his recent post about burglaries. Sounds like it's been a crazy week.
