Jan. 18th, 2008

Instant noodles apparently have an expiration date. I noticed that my moyashi soba had a date of 1/7/2008 for either buying or eating it, probably the latter, so I ate it for dinner. It seemed fine. I'm still alive, at least. I also ate mini chocolate bars. This might have been one of the unhealthiest dinners I've had in a really long time.

I had bakery food for lunch, the funny part being that I was pretty much still asleep while I was getting food and going to work, and after I paid for my food and was untangling myself from the bakery, I heard "Hey Deanna, how are you doing?" from someone in line, and I looked, and it was Sam's wife, only I didn't realize that until like 10 minutes later. My brain said "You know this person. They are not one of your students. Unfortunately, I am not remembering who they are quite yet." I was like "Hi! I'm okay! How are you?" or something, but I didn't really stop to talk. It was only once I got to work, signed in, sat down and ate some food and drank some milk tea that I was like "Oh, hey, I think that was K. I must seem so rude."

Before my 7pm class, I sat down to talk to one of my favorite students in the lobby. Duane had asked me to tell our shared students what was going on, since some of them didn't come to his classes last week.

Me: "I have good news and bad news for you."
Him: "What? Sorry? Can you repeat that?"
Me: "I have good news and bad news for you. Want to hear bad news first?"
Him: "I don't like bad news."
Me: "Well, er, the bad news is that your last class with Duane is tomorrow. He is quitting GEOS and his last day of work here is next Wednesday."
Him: "..."
Me: "You understand?"
Him: "WHAT?!?!?!?!"
Me: "You understand."
Him: "Duane is leaving?"
Me: "So er, the good news is, you'll be getting a new teacher in three weeks! From Scotland! He'll have a crazy accent just like Becky's, I'm sure."
Him: [long pause] "I am surprised."
Me: "I am sorry."
Him: "..."
Me: "He was supposed to tell you last week..."
Him: "Was there good news?"

I played Pop'n again tonight, this time at the gamecenter near my home station Warabi. There was a guy and a girl sitting on the bench behind the Bemani games watching some other dude play Drummania. They weren't actually playing Pop'n, so I went up and played. I have no clue why they were just waiting, but pretty much as soon as I finished my set the guy jumped up to play. Eh.

At home I watched the sports news, which mostly featured crazy cosplaying rainbow girl Naomi Yotsumoto winning some table tennis tournament. She does apparently have the talent to back up the clothing choice, at least.
