HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME
May. 7th, 2006 02:08 amIt is now my birthday. I am now 29. Fear me. Downtown Todai at 7pm tonight (Sunday) if you're interested. Fooooooood.
I started off the day over at the new house moving more boxes. I was really exhausted so I went to Safeway to get something junkfoody for myself as a birthday treat. My dad called to wish me a birthday while I was there, which resulted in conversation like this:
"So did you get the card in the mail that your grandfather sent?"
"I did, hey, should I get cookies, do you think?"
"He sent you cookies?"
"No, I want cookies. Maybe I should get chocolate chip ones..."
"By the way, I haven't heard back from your uncle yet about a bbq over Memorial Day weekend, but I'm betting something will go on. I'll call him Monday if I don't hear soon."
"Oooh, how about ice cream instead?"
"Dee, are you listening to me?"
"I am, but ice cream!"
Anyway, the rest of the day, I first moved boxes to the new house, then took the bus downtown from there. Went to Elliott Bay, where we had book club, and managed to actually have pretty good discussion, made even more fun because Jonah Keri (the author of the book we were doing) showed up. I forgot to ask him to sign my book though. I suck. It wasn't a huge group, just
bpr,
gomezticator, Josh, Conor, me and Jonah, and DMZ was there but he disappeared for a while.
We lost Gomez and picked up Conor's dad and another Baseball Prospectus guy named Jeff, and went to the Mariners-Indians game in a big huge group, which was pretty fun. It lasted 2 hours and 10 minutes. The Mariners won. Derek booed EVERYTHING IN SIGHT, including the kid saying "play ball", the entirety of section 329, the music selection, the fan grams, Captain Plastic... it was pretty funny. Josh gave me a ride home and I was back by 8:40pm. Man. I hung out with Zach a bit and then came home and packed some more boxes and ran back to the house. Fitting my Poang chair in my car was a nightmare though, and I had to dismantle it.
