May. 2nd, 2005

Today was pretty good. I got up early and baked brownies, and then headed to Greenlake, where I walked around the lake, stopping at Subway for lunch halfway around. It took longer than it should have, though, and I didn't get out to Dave's house in Redmond until around 3:45 (I was supposed to be there at 3).

Drew and Dave and Brian finished a game of Carcassonne H&G while I read baseball scores on my phone. Then we played two games of Ticket to Ride. Dave totally won the first one with crazy long tracks, he had a score of like 152; I thought I did pretty well with my 142 (74 points in tickets, whee). The second game was hugely frustrating for me. We all took the entire deck and didn't play any cards early. I had Vancouver-Montreal and Seattle-Los Angeles and I got blocked on the SF-LA route both ways after I completed the first big ticket... in the end I was just fighting a lot of bad draws and whatnot. I don't even remember who won, but it sure wasn't me.

We played Puerto Rico, and I decided to NOT PLAY THE HOSPICE/FACTORY STRATEGY! I played shipping. Although, I did end up getting the Factory anyway -- which I thought was a patently bad move a turn or two later when I had to discard a whole bunch of corn instead of shipping it, I shoulda gotten the wharf. Well, I got the wharf... and somehow the game went on long enough for me to get a few captain phases in, shipping 7 corn each time... so, even without a large building, or many buildings at all, I racked up *65* victory points, 49 of which were in VP chips. Wheeeee, I won by a landslide. That was pretty unexpected.

We watched Simpsons after that, and then Brian and Dave and I sat around talking for a while.

I really should be asleep by now but I've been goofing off online both in PP and other stuff. Dammit, and I'd been so good about keeping to a regular sleep schedule again. Maybe I'll try to get up at 10 or 11 anyway today.

Oh! And the Angels are in town May 2, 3, 4. I'm going to go to at least one game; if anyone's interested, they're tonight at 7pm, Tuesday at 7pm, Wednesday at 3:35pm. I don't have tickets to these games already, so it doesn't matter much to me which day I go.
