Nov. 2nd, 2004

Last night we had two rounds of bingo at pub quiz. We got one of them but missed the tiebreaker. Aww. We also utterly missed the quiz link and a lot of other stuff. On the other hand H.P. and Darcy were there which made it a very different group and it was cool.

Today, I saw a sign saying "520 is screwed up", so I took 90 instead to get here. I was gonna stop in Bellevue for lunch for a change and thought I'd go to Crossroads, except then I noticed where the Whole Foods is and went there instead. Holy shit, if the Bellevue WF had a Jamba Juice in it I'd never go back to the U-District one. It has CRAZY food selection. I got some salad and some samosas.

I ate the samosas in the parking lot outside work because I thought they might stink up the cubicle space if I brought them in. Instead I had a bizarre zen moment while sitting in the car. With the vents off and the cold rain outside, every sense felt altered in some way:

I could see the gray of the rainy day but it was softened due to the steam in the car.
I could smell the samosas in the small space.
I could taste them. Damn, were they good.
I could feel the fogginess of the air, and the softness of the samosas.
I could hear the muted sound of the raindrops behind the inner-head sound of munching.

I don't know why I'm posting this, but I wanted to capture the moment somehow. I dunno, eating samosas by myself in a parking lot in Kirkland shouldn't be such a zen thing, but it was really kinda cool. Occasionally it takes something of the ordinary to make you remember that just being alive is cool, and it's hard to keep that in focus sometimes.
