Hmm

Jun. 8th, 2004 02:23 pm
Yesterday I went to Safeco field to exchange tickets for Tuesday instead of Wednesday, like everyone else. (Clemens is pitching tonight in theory). The guy at the window saw my Pittsburgh Pirates shirt and started asking me about whether I'd been to the new stadiums in PA... I said I had, and just been to Phillies' new one, and he's like "Me too! Went to the games against the Dodgers a few weeks back." "No kidding! I was at Tuesday's." "With 9 homeruns! Thought it was an AL game." "8 actually, but yeah! And they showed Randy Johnson's perfect game during the rain delay..."

Hee, small world.

So anyway, I shopped in the Team Store a little (I got Mariners Uno cards! WHEE!) And then I went to Narrows after that for the last ever Free Bemani Night. Played a ton of Bemani games, saw some people. James is going away :( Tanya, I somehow had no idea you were on the Today Show when you went to NY... how crazy! I watched the clip though, that's awesome. Hm, also saw Steve, Amber... Alpha-Chris... Dylan and Rayna... forgetting who else. Whee. I'm gonna learn "One Two" on stealth.

Left early because I was feeling kinda yucky. Came home. Did laundry and pillaged with Kui and people in PP. Had a really bad nav run, and Comp cornered me on a boat to chat, and then he made the rest of the crew come on with me for my nav run back. Ugh, it sucked, I couldn't concentrate on anything AND because there were people we kept getting attacked and blah, ended up staying awake until 7am or so, talking to Dora and whatnot. Oi. Some unpleasantries may be occurring in my future around the PP party. Whee.

Going to the baseball game tonight though :) All happy!

I'm just gonna do daily entries whee. They shouldn't be too long.

Tuesday I went on my first attempt at shopping for my McCarp costume (see icon) for the Puzzle Pirates Party. I was basically really only looking for a yellow apron. I went to Fred Meyer, they had blue and green and black aprons but no yellow. I did pick up a tire gauge and windshield fluid though -- go me!

Tried Target as well, no luck, no aprons. Went into Northgate Mall... walked around a bit... ended up getting an apron at JC Penney's... but it had writing on it. I figured I could turn it backwards if needed. And it was only $9.99, half price, so eh.

Grabbed dinner at the mall food court (Ivar's!) and got on the bus at the Northgate P&R after that to go to the Mariners game. It was exciting because Roger Clemens was pitching. I got to the game super-early and walked around the stadium.. there was a giant crowd waiting behind the bullpen to see Clemens warm up, it was kinda amusing. Anyway... Jeff met up with me around the start of the game because he'd run into another friend... we watched the game... it was really pretty amazing, a big pitcher's duel. Clemens pitched a shutout and Piniero ALMOST pitched a shutout. I mean, he pitched really well, just had one sorta-kinda bad inning. Bagwell got a single, the guy after him walked... with no outs, the Astros managed to advance twice and score Bagwell. Though it was really kinda weird since the throw actually beat him to the plate, but both Dan Wilson dropped the ball AND Bagwell missed the plate... but crawled back and touched it before Dan got there... and oi. 1-0, and that was the game. Very sad.

The highlight of the game was of course the new outfielder Hiram Bocachica. He wears number 44, plays centerfield, is amazing defensively, hits righthanded and not particularly well... can you say "Cheaper version of Mike Cameron"? I knew you could. But, yeah, he's cool. If he could start hitting better, he'd become a superstar on the mariners in no time :)
