Happiness is a Warm Gunner

I could write a long entry, but I won't.

Went to Nykkel's today, played board games. Theme was "new games we got that are good for 5 people", the 5 people being me, Nykkel, DJ, Phaedrus, and Sylffor. The first game was Aladdin's Dragons, which is a variation on an auction theme, and I actually kind of liked it once I got the hang of it. I'm not just saying this because I won. (Nykkel and I had the same number of artifacts at the end, but I had more of the tiebreaker ones. Arr.) Then we got dinner at the teriyaki place down the street, and my GOD is it cold outside today.

I got everyone to play Pirate's Cove, and I... still get annoyed by the amount of luck involved in that game. Nykkel won, because he sucks and kept getting everyone to attack me. Arr. It is a bit different with five people though, there's a lot more conflicts. Also, I like taking on the Legendary Pirates.

Phaedrus and Sylffor left at that point, and then the remaining three of us just hung out for an hour or two and talked about random stuff. I still have a sore throat so I didn't push to go play Karaoke Revolution. DJ's lending me some k-rad DVDs though! Wheeee! Pop'n'Live! So cool!

I was on PP for a brief time and Pierut hooked me up with some maps I'd been dying for. Wheee!

Tomorrow I should hopefully have time to check out a WOTC store or two... I bet all the good games are already gone.

Advice on hard drives?

Hey, does anyone know about hard drives? That is, do you all know more than I do about hard drives? It can't be hard to, since I know very little.

Since I'm so deadly paranoid about my hard drive since the last time it blew up and Roman saved the day for me, I decided to go get a new hard drive before my current one dies. (I don't actually think my current one is anywhere near dying, and I was actually thinking I might use it as a backup now that I have a new one.)

My old one's a Maxtor 40GB drive. My new one's a Seagate 80GB drive, 7200 RPM ATA/IDE blah blah blah. But I honestly can't remember what I've heard about Seagate. So can one of you hard drive gurus enlighten me? Am I doomed? Should I go exchange it before it blows up my system?
