choir & puzzling stuff
Sep. 23rd, 2003 01:45 amToday... so Stewart was interviewing, I ran into him in the morning on my way in, and also at lunch I saw him with Blake, and said hi, but then went off with my group to eat. There was work, and an Al Franken talk as per my last entry, and then I went home to get a ride from
thatmathchick to choir rehearsal.
I know you are all going to have a hard time believing this (Deb certainly did), but I am incredibly shy and withdrawn around large groups of people that I totally don't know. So I was all clingy and stayed around Deb the whole time... even though I was singing tenor and she was singing alto I got her to sit next to me. We sang through a couple choruses of the Messiah. I found myself surprised that I can still sightread fairly well, even after not being in choir for 8 years. The only kinda strange thing was that the choir director is really religious and he kept giving us directions based on things like "This is the part where they are laughing at Jesus. I don't WANT this to sound pretty." or whatever. And there was a prayer at the end of rehearsal... he was like "Last week we prayed for more tenors and look, we have three more this week! YAY!"
(I'm not particularly religious myself. I'm fine with whatever other people do and respect their choices, as long as they don't try to convert me.)
But other than that I guess it went well. It was kinda nice to be singing again, especially singing the Messiah, I think we might actually do the whole freakin' 4-hour thing, and I've never done that before... it just means I kill my Monday evenings for the next 3 months! Whee! No more Free Bemani Night or Monday quiz for me! Oh well, if I stick with it, you'll all come see me sing in December, right? It's even all for charity, believe it or not...
I have until next week to decide, before I have to commit, I think. I have a feeling I'll stick with it. Even if I am sad that
jeliza won't be able to join us this season.
( babbling about food and puzzle pirates )
I can't find my copy of the Messiah sheet music, although I did find my CD of the Robert Shaw chorale singing the Messiah choruses... maybe I can learn by listening! ha...
also, ♥ Jamie Moyer. He got his 20th win today... 20-7 at the age of 40... he rocks :)
