Bear chair and other IKEA adventures
Aug. 21st, 2003 03:13 amMy whole group ditched me for lunch today and went to a meeting instead :( So I ate salad and fruit salad and healthy things. I guess they should ditch me more! One of these days I'll have the courage to go approach other people... but for now...

pauldf and I went to IKEA tonight! That was really exciting! We looked around the whole store at stuff, which is always fun. Paul was looking for a side table, and I was looking for another CD tower... and of course whatever else looked cool :) We tried to mostly avoid getting random extra crap. I found a light for Eli and my CD towers... and these awesome inflatable dice footrests, which I'm gonna bring to work tomorrow, I think they'll do some good in the team room :) Paul got a table and some batteries and some chocolate and a trash can and a set of shelves that will work kinda like a side table. And in the process I also found two pieces of furniture I totally want, but didn't buy: one is a dinner table-ish thing with drawers in it. So ideally it's really a dinner table for 2, but I couldn't help but think it'd make a GREAT game table, you'd keep games in the drawers and all. The other piece of furniture is this... uhh.. for lack of a better way to describe it, it is a Bear Chair. Like, it's a big stuffed bear, but it's got metal inside it so it supports itself as an armchair. It's meant for kids, but I found it comfy too.
After IKEA, we attempted to get cheesesteaks at Philly's Best... except it appears to be CLOSED DOWN! Can anyone who lives south of Seattle confirm or deny this for me? It's the Kent Philly's Best... down on 104th... I was *so* looking forward to a good cheesesteak, too! So we ended up at Red Robin for dinner instead, where we sat near a TV that had baseball on and so I didn't pay nearly enough attention to Paul, although we did still manage to have a good conversation over a tower of onion rings and stuff. I ate too much food! And Meche lost today, sadly, and Oakland won, which is just sucky all around.
Came home, took stuff out of the car, whee. I dunno when I'll have time to build any of it... maybe tomorrow after D&D. I desperately need to do laundry, too.
Talked to a lot of people online tonight, which is why I'm still awake. Usually that would be a bad thing, but nah... today has been great for rebonding with people. It's like the padlock on the door has been finally been gotten rid of, and things are open again for everyone. Now if only I could find Mwinzi... has anyone seen or heard from him recently?
