Shit.

I wanted to write my long California entry tonight, but I've been at home for 3 hours already and trying to catch up on online crap from the weekend and totally failing...

so... tomorrow you will get a long detailed story about What Happened When Deanna Decided To Follow Team Seattle to B3.

for now... sleep.

it was a pretty good weekend, and if any of the people I met this weekend happen to stumble upon my journal, please comment and/or add me as a friend or something... I'll try to hunt you all down sometime tomorrow, especially Jamie and Rob :) And I'll upload my pictures and stuff.

(For the quick version: Tanya, Charlie, Keevon, me, and Allan went down to SF, where we met up with Lith and Jedi, and I-Gene (who is an honorary Seattle person), and entered Bemani By The Bay's DDR PA competition. Lith came in first, Tigger Eugenie second, Jedi third, Trunks fourth, Keevon and Charlie 5/6, Orochi and Ver2 7/8. I attempted to qualify but got some mediocre score on Sync Oni (261/64/2/0/1? I think), Tanya qualified but got knocked out in the 2-song first round because D2R and Vanity Angel suck, and Allan... I think Allan failed his qualifier :( It was a lot like being at the "away" game for a school team or something, so many people were cheering AGAINST my friends. Anyway, as for the weekend: Friday we got there, went to RTA, went to Sean's house, played videogames, slept, Saturday we went to B3, eventually we went to SVGL where I got to see a lot of cool people and play IIDX in the arcade for once, Sunday Tanya and Charlie went to Great America and the rest of us circled the bay clockwise, stopping off at strategic points to play Bemani games and eat. Then we came home.)

See, even when I write a short entry it turns long...

*sad*

i didn't really know ashley campbell *that* well, now that i think about it. he showed up as a freshman in KGB when i was a fifth-year-senior and was a little bit jaded with KGB as an organization. i used to sit in the back of MM103 with him and brad hamner and neil lareau, and i'd read the tartan and make silly jokes with them. because his name's ash AND campbell, we made a lot of army of darkness jokes. it was cool.

later i saw him get involved in senate, and in campus in general. and whenever i saw him he was always smiling and joking, and posting insightful and witty things to cmu.misc.market (unlike 95% of the rest of the posts there). my impression of him never ever strayed from him just being a very very good person.

i don't know how he died because the post to cmu news didn't say, it just says he passed away on may 15, but i'm honestly saddened by his passing, even though i don't think i'd even spoken to him in person in about two years. i think he touched a LOT of people's lives in his time at CMU. sigh.

(thanks to [profile] skydiamonde... i wouldn't have even known if she hadn't mentioned it, since i hadn't checked CMU bboards in a while. bleh.)
