Games! And Fish!
Oct. 13th, 2002 01:51 amagh and mlahut came by and visited me today! I took them to Taste of India for lunch. Matt had the Tandoori chicken and it didn't come out sizzling. They were telling me about a game they played at a Microsoft gaming night, called Traders of Genoa. Asked if there was a game store nearby.. well, we drove past the Half Price and the store next to it, but there was no parking AND it was full of Magic players, so instead we went up to Gary's Games, which is near where I live, on Greenwood.
Man! Gary's Games ROCKS! It's actually, if such a thing is possible, better than Phantom. (Well, it's worse in that I'm not friends with all the staff and patrons yet.) But, man, the game selection is really sweet. They have all different sorts of stuff, a separate store section for models/figurines/etc, a game board in the back, and tables... AND A WHOLE AISLE OF BRIDGE STUFF! Dude.
nickjong and
csg87 and Noble and such would have been so happy if this aisle had existed in a game store in Pittsburgh. They had boards, table cards, scorecards, convention cards, convention card holders, boxes to carry boards in, 12-packs of ACBL cards, TONS AND TONS AND TONS of bridge books, t-shirts that said "I have Master Points" on them, and... man, it was cool. :) All of us, being hardcore bridge players, were all just oohing and aahing over it all. Then we looked at RPG books for a while, and hated how expensive they've gotten, and looked at board games, and eventually we all decided not to buy anything and came back to my house and played Seafarers of Catan. Drew won, even though Matt and I totally edged him out of exploring pretty early on.
We looked at pictures, mostly of Otakon and of Seattle stuff, and then they went back to their side of the lake. It was good, for a short gaming fix.
Eli and I ended up going to Chinook's for dinner. It's a fishy restaurant in Ballard. We had fish. It was good fish. The Angels beat the Twins again tonight. Doh!
Been "unpacking stuff" tonight... err... assembling Legos and chatting on Trillian, which I installed today because I'm a glutton for punishment. So in theory, you can now also contact me at my old ICQ number, if anyone in the world still uses ICQ. I also listened to the new DCT album tonight. I don't like it as much as their older ones, really, but maybe it will grow on me.
