After I wrote that entry Sunday night I played FFX for a bit. It was more than a bit, because I was stuck in this ice area where they had encounters EVERY FIVE SECONDS and I couldn't find my way to a save point and I was stressed over wanting to go to the new house and unpack more stuff. Well, I found a savepoint and we went to the new house and unpacked stuff, and then came back.
Monday was work. I ate sushi and spring rolls for lunch. Mmmm. I also finally started really looking at code, except it made my head explode.
When I got to work on Monday morning I realized that it was the first day of classes at CMU and therefore the first day of Kiltie Band as well. Except I'm 3000 miles away... sigh, I miss Kiltie Band. I wonder if I should retire this LJ picture or not, given that it's unlikely I'll have any band-like or baritone-like stuff to talk about, until I find a community band or something to play in out here.
Going home, I missed the 6:56pm 358 bus by about half a block, which was really frustrating, mostly because I misjudged my time leaving work because I was walking slower and all. The 358 and 312 were right there at the corner of 3rd and Yesler or whatever and there was a red light, but because my legs were shot I couldn't run to it. So I went to the stop, hating myself, and another bus came by like a minute later. So I hop on. We catch up to the 358 and 312 at 3rd and Union... except the fucking bus driver wouldn't let me off to go run up to the other bus. Why? Because there's about room for 2 buses on the "bus stop" part of the pavement and then there's two post office driveways. So I say "Please, just let me off so I can go catch the bus I missed back there," and the bus driver goes "I can't do that, the Post Office won't allow me." I go "But by the time you can pull up there, MY BUS WILL BE GONE!" and she said "Well, you should have told me that back when you got on so I could call the bus and have him wait for you." "So you can't just open the door here and let me out." "No, I can't open the door until I'm at the stop and I can't go to the stop until those buses go away." Fucker. So she let me off at the stop after I watched my bus go away, and then I SWEAR TO GOD, a few minutes later, two buses were at the stop area getting people and letting people off, and A THIRD BUS PULLED UP BEHIND THEM AND LET PEOPLE OFF AND ON. So that bus driver was just a fucking asshole.
Anyway, uhh, hi.
So I got to the new house and we went to try to try a new sushi place, except that since it was Monday and they're in Greenwood, they were closed. Grumble. So we went to Sushi Ai in Wallingford instead. The food wasn't quite as good as I remembered it from last time. I had a sashimi/sushi bento and the only really fabulous thing was the spicy tuna temaki. Also, there were tons of fruit flies on the wall. I assume they don't eat sushi though. The interesting parts of the trip to Wallingford were: 1) the people at the table next to us mentioned a Kaitensushi place in Bellvue called "Sushiland", so now we have two kaiten places to go try out. Err, three. Or something. 2) after parking, I noticed "hey, there's a cat in the car in front of us." Eli was like "Huh, there is." So we walk by the car and there are no people in there, but the front passenger-side window is nonexistent. So I said to the car and cat, "Ah, did you just climb in there randomly, kitty?" and sure enough, the cat climbed out of the car and followed us for a little bit. It was a really cute grey cat. Not wearing any collar or anything, though. 2a) on the way back to the car, we also saw another stray cat, a big fluffy one.
We went back to the house and unpacked more crap. "my" room is now pretty much devoid of boxes, but our bedroom is still full of boxes and crap. I'd say that we could probably put sheets on the bed and start living there now if we wanted to, though. So we'll see.
