climbed my second mountain today
Aug. 24th, 2002 09:39 pmYesterday evening I went to the bbq at Tim's house in Cap Hill. I got a ride with Mike the Boss, and Todd went also. For most of the time I was there, it was basically a whole bunch of guys on chairs in the backyard, grilling random crap and drinking a whole lot of beer. Even I drank three bottles of beer, which is really unlike me. There was a Canadian theme to the party, since Tim is going back to Waterloo and Colin is moving into the house he lived in. So we had a Canadian flag out, and listened to Canadian rock music, and drank Canadian beer. Whee.
Anyway, I guess it was sort of fun; I stayed there for like 2.5 hours until Todd was going home (since he was giving me a ride) and talked to people. One of Tim/Colin's housemates is a guy who works at Amazon whose name I never caught, but he's from the Philly area, from Pottstown, and he went to the Hill school (class of '94). He was surprised as heck that I'd heard of the Hill school; I asked if he knew Roman and he said "huh, I know who he is, yeah..." Anyway, eh.
Afterwards I came home and played FFX. I got past Bevelle and defeated Seymour yet again. Yay.
This morning we got up early and went to Mount Rainier. We drove up to some Sunshine point thingy and got out and walked up the trails. We went to the frozen lake thingy, and then tried to go up Mt. Fremont. Well, I say "tried" because Josh and Eli made it all the way, but after 3/4 of the way I was completely terrified of falling off the mountain, so I got Megan to walk back down the trail with me. Oh well. I took a lot of pictures of chipmunks and marmots today. About half of the animals seem terrified of humans, and the other half must get fed often by hikers. Like this one way cute chipmunk that pretty much came right up to us and even tried to look in Eli's backpack. And this one marmot that I swear was posing for pictures.
I am in really bad shape though. I think 5 hours of straight walking up and down a mountain really kinda killed me. I slept most of the way there and back in the car, really. And now I'm pretty zonked as well. We're watching TV and eating pizza. I should be practicing DDR or unpacking things at the new house but I'm slacking off instead. Oh well. Tournament tomorrow. I still wonder if I should bother going. Blah.
