First day of work and Eli's birthday
Aug. 5th, 2002 11:49 pmI had my first day of work today. It went pretty well, I guess. There was orientation stuff, and 4 out of 5 of us in the orientation were left-handed (easy to tell since we were all filling out forms, heh). I took the bus in and was half an hour early since I was too cautious. Anyway, after that, I took the shuttle to the building I actually work in, and went up to the floor I'm on, and met up with some of the guys in my group, who showed me to my office. Well, that is, I share an office. My officemate is one of the cool guys I interviewed with, the one from Philly who looks like a slightly older Shelby Davis and who likes Framemaker. He laughs at all of my silly jokes, so I think we will get along pretty well. We spent most of the day getting me set up with stuff, but I did actually do some real work; they had me edit a web page and put it up on the intranet so I could see the whole webserving process. The people seem nice and the job is daunting but cool, so hopefully stuff will go well. Also, it's across the street from Uwajimaya, so I grabbed sushi for lunch. Whee!
After work I came home here and we took Eli out for his birthday, me and Megan and him. We went to Ray's Boat House, and had fabulous seafood with a fabulous view of Puget Sound (I think. Too much water here). It was expensive, but worth it. I paid, because dammit I was celebrating Eli's birthday and my new job and I owe Megan so much for letting us stay here and all. So. Yay. I guess I should sleep soon so I can get up early for work tomorrow and all... exciting, isn't it?
