the short version: today I went shopping with [profile] dvarin and we got camping supplies for this weekend and we got me a new hard drive (it's a Maxtor 40GB if anyone wants to comment about Maxtor). after that I had a big DDR party and a lot of awesome people came to it and it was great and I hope everyone had a good time even though I do admit that next time I should just run DDR on two TVs instead of DDR on one and another game on another. at the end of the party, [profile] nickjong and [profile] dvarin helped me put the new hard drive in my computer. my old drive turns out to be a Seagate, which [personal profile] eub says is cursed. Yeah. Anyway, so Windows 2000 installed just fine on the new drive, and I just installed drivers for the video card and all, and except for lacking all my data and applications, I'm pretty happy.

As an aside, I am feeling much better about my showering soaping habits, as it seems that I do follow the most popular method and showering times. I'm sorry that I didn't quite cover all of the different methods, but I was sort of curious about it all, since sometimes I wonder if there's a better way to do it than just rub a bar of soap all over oneself. Lots of interesting input there... I'll reply more to it all tomorrow or later. thanks for the input though :)

later: i got it to recognize my old hard drive, but it doesn't see any data. i wish i could figure out what the fuck reinstalling windows did to it...

I drove to Monroeville, which was very exciting. We managed to avoid actually going into the mall, as Carl has decided Eastern Mountain Sports is too yuppie for their own good, and I realized we could get everything at K-mart... so I got a new hard drive at Best Buy (for the record, they have everything CompUSA has, but 10 bucks cheaper) and then camping stuff at K-mart (really just a sleeping bag/air mattress, since I am a wimp). Then I drove home, which was also exciting. Oh, I forgot to mention that before going out there I went and checked the tires and put some more air in them, with Carl's help. I hope I did okay.

After coming home I cleaned up a little, ate some dinner, had a phone conversation about my upcoming interview in Seattle (they haven't sent me an itinerary yet but I think I'll be out there the weekend of the 21st-23rd), and then I had a DDR party.

Lots of people showed up (Bayani, Rebecca, Nick, Justin, Mark, Neil, Jensen, Carl, Chris, Robin, Mike from Duquesne, Christina, Krispy, Noble, Jen... I guess that's it unless I've forgotten someone because I suck). Counting me and Eli that's 17 although not counting people who didn't actually play any Bemani games it's more like 13. I had DDR set up in the living room and for a while Guitar Freaks in the dining room, and later Para Para in the dining room. Para Para doesn't work in the smaller room because if you actually have people who are into it, you can't have a whole lot of people doing the para moves - there's just no room. Anyway, DDR was fun; we played a lot of DDR MAX, and Rebecca and I did our routine for everyone, and we made people play Oha and Disney, and then some normal 3rd Mix, and at that point I ducked out so I could get help with^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hmy friends to put my new hard drive in for me. It wasn't too bad a deal for them since my room has airconditioning (I have one AC unit and it really makes more sense to be in the bedroom than in the living room...).

Unfortunately I still can't get the data off my old drive. [profile] rmitz says he can come by tonight and maybe help me with it. Whee!

All in all it was an exciting party, it was great to finally have Justin and the OGS-types over here, and Mike because he is the best DDR player in Pittsburgh, I hadn't actually seen him since one of the tournaments like back in January or something.

Hopefully I'll have some more DDR things over here this summer... I just wish I could figure out what is a good number of people and balance of stuff. I'm thinking next time maybe I could put Samba in the dining room instead of Para... or just set up two DDR stations or something. I'll need to go get a few more DDR pads though. And, as usual, if anyone ever wants to come over and play, just ask... I'm always up for it.
