tuesday is philly day
May. 21st, 2002 01:58 pmall right, i'm here in philly, might as well update. except that since I am again frustrated over what I am going to do today/tonight, I don't know what tone this will come out in.
last night I went to Charlie's house and helped make and eat sushi. it was pretty good. Overall I managed to make a lot of maki that actually stayed together, and Charlie had a lot more food than necessary (as opposed to last time Eli and I did sushi, when we had less food than necessary). i got to play a few hands of bridge, and take pictures of lots of people. Drew and Noble and Ann and Emilie and Christina and Jason and Nick and Kyle and Kevin W and Eli and I were all there (that sounds like everyone in my head). Oh, and I guess the amusing point of the evening was that there was this really tight parallel parking space in front of Charlie's place. When I got there I tried to take it, except it turned out that Kevin also wanted to take it... except I tried... and failed... and Kevin took a different space... then I gave up and drove around the corner... by the time we walked back, Nick was trying to take the same space. (he succeeded, although it looked like he was having about as much trouble as I did)
After dinner, we gave Eli's old futon to Jason... it was propinquitous serendipity; he happened to ask me if I knew anyone giving away or selling a bed earlier that day, and I said to Eli, "Hey, what are you doing with your futon?" and Eli said "We ought to give it to someone, shouldn't we?" and I said "great! Jason needs a bed!" so it worked out pretty well *and* I got to use the word propinquitous in an LJ entry.
This morning I got up and went to the airport. I am an idiot and had some sewing supplies in my bag and so I got my scissors confiscated. I also got scanned (why do I always get scanned)? I also left my boarding pass on the table with the tupperware trays while I was taking out metal stuff to put on them. I felt sort of like "hi, I am wearing tons of CMU stuff and obviously I have an IQ higher than my bowling average, but for some reason I'm being retarded today". But, other than that things were relatively uneventful. I worked through more Korean lessons while waiting in the airport. I think Dan Lovinger was on my plane, too. But, since I haven't seen him in uh 7 years or so I didn't say anything to him. Oh, and before we landed it was really freaky - the plane overshot Philly and was heading towards NYC or something... I got really, really freaked out, because they weren't saying anything and there were no flight attendants in sight and the plane was kind of wobbling, but then they turned around and headed back and landed in Philly and I got on a SEPTA train and headed here and now I am sitting here trying to put together plans for the evening, as I mentioned. I *want* to play DDR sometime tonight with the whole Gameworks Tuesday gang since I'm in town for it, but it seems like my highschool friends would rather drag me to watch Titanic the musical (because Chuckie's little brother is in it at Akiba). Hopefully I will get to play DDR *and* see highschool friends, but who knows what will happen. blah. Maybe I'll go call Aiton...
also, isn't it sad that my dad has a better net connection than i do currently? sigh.
