Today I worked on a routine with Rebecca for this DDR tournament we are going to on June 1 in Michigan. We are doing the song "Let the Beat Hit 'Em" basic double. We do a lot of goofy stuff. We managed to come up with stuff for the whole song, which is good... except that we spent until 3:30pm working on it here in my apartment and as a result we didn't get to the BVM until like 4:30 and apparently we missed Sam Pinansky and his sister there and I feel really bad because I convinced him to go play today because I thought it would be fun. Sigh! Anyway, we worked on our routine a bunch of times at the BVM and it seems to go pretty well, although we tend to every now and then forget a foot or two or a measure... eh... I'd say we'll get better with practice except that the next time we can get together is like, the day before the tournament. Oops. Well, I can practice on my own and memorize my part and in theory Rebecca will do that too and then we'll kick ass and take names. Or something like that.

After DDR I came home and panicked a whole lot over what to do in the evening, but it all worked out.

First I went to dinner with Rochberg and Eli at Sushi Kim, where I ate a lot of sushi, but was in a bad mood because I wasn't sure whether the rest of the evening was going to work out. It was also totally packed. I think there was at least one family of people in for CMU graduation there. Oh, and I drove there and parallel parked and that stressed me too because it was really hard to find a space. Anyway, so I guess I should have worked up to the chapter of my Korean book about how to order in restaurants. But other than that dinner was pretty good.

After dinner I went to Wightman for swing dancing and was there for about two hours. I danced with [profile] bn29 and [personal profile] blk (I always try to dance with Barbara. She's a pretty good sport about it and helps me learn to lead) and Trey and some other people that I don't know all the names for. Well, Dave was there and I danced with him a little, and slenser and rroberts were there too. Rachel is apparently quite a dancer. It was Scott's first time dancing but I asked him to dance anyway and I think he's catching on really quickly. I danced with tons of random people, which ranged from fun to bizarre to annoying to normal. I got to do a cha-cha with Bryan at one point. But after Barbara and Bryan left I mostly just danced with Trey. We did a quickstep at one point which was simply AMAZING. Trey's floorcraft is just really good. I even heard people going "oh, they're doing a quickstep, look at that!" as we went sailing by them. A guy even came up to Trey afterwards to ask him what dance it was and stuff. Later I got to dance a waltz with Trey as well and it was also amazing. I miss dancing sometimes, but there are so few people that I dance so well with as I do with Trey that it is sort of sad. Well, Tal promised that we would go swing dancing again once I finally have a free weekend (sometime in June... whee). So maybe I can get many people to go again. It would be fun.

Also, you know, I wore a tight lycra black shirt and a miniskirt tonight and despite the fact that I think it makes me look fat, I noticed that I got asked to dance a lot more than usual. If only I didn't worry so much about holding in my stomach the whole time :(

Bleh... graduation tomorrow. Better get the camera ready and get an outfit ready so I don't look like crap if I meet any friends' families. And set the alarm. And so on and so forth. And this year I'm not going to cry. Yeah.

I went to graduation today. I went to the main ceremony but it was cold and rainy so I left after like ten minutes and went over to the Carnegie Music Hall thingy. I got there at like noon and wasn't allowed to go in, so I sat in the lobby and read the graduation programs for a bit. Ajay showed up around 12:15 so I went in with him, and they opened the doors around 12:20. I saw Mav there too, that was weird. So Ajay also had a big camera, so we got really good seats - right at the right of the stage, in the very front row, with these other two women who were there to take pictures of all the SCS graduates.

Christina and dkitchin and Mike Peck and babailey and other people showed up a little after that, so I gave Christina the seat next to me because it was really good, but we didn't have enough space for everyone else, but Dave and Bryan sat two rows back, and Mike was there to see his cousin graduate so he went to sit with his family anyway. When all the graduates came in I got to say hi to lots of people and take pictures, and say more hi, and take more pictures, and I even got an SCS totebag despite that Catherine always tells me not to take them. Heh.

I got to watch and cheer on a ton of people graduating, which is always fun. We sort of had a lounge contingent to cheer for all of our friends, which was good. As Dave told us later, Brighten's name and honors took 11 seconds to read, but jcreed's only took 9. I think it's because two minors takes longer to read than one dual degree. Heh. Still, there were some people with tons of bells and whistles, which is always exciting to see. I tried to take pictures of a lot of people crossing the stage, but we'll see how well it actually comes out. A lot of my D&D group graduated from CS this semester, oddly... Drew, Matt Lahut, Ben Kane, James Wilson, Deryck Morales, Chris Labrunda... and all of whizbang's interns from last summer (Drew, Jason, Jacob, and Kevin). I dunno. I got to meet bunches of family people. jcreed's mother was like "oh, you're Deanna! I have heard so many nice things about you," which was as always scary but good to hear, and Nick's parents were also like "oh, you went to Ohio! We saw pictures of you," and such. In general, people's families were cool, and seeing people was cool, and saying goodbye to people was cool, and I didn't cry at all! whee.

I hung out at the CS reception until it cleared out, then walked to campus with Carl and Martin and Drew, and then I came home, and I guess now I'm going to go to Sunday dinner, as soon as I change out of this "nice" shirt. I guess technically I could leave it on, actually. Hmm.
