dr4b: (ginkakuji)
I had too many other options for tonight to host IMSO. I haven't played DDR in several days now. Since my DDR party Thursday, I guess. I should play tomorrow though. I'm going to nail Ninzaburo, Drop Out, and Luv To Me (all Trick, don't get me wrong) when I go to BVM this saturday (assuming I get to go). In addition, I'm going to full-combo maniac Absolute and Abyss at home this week. Yeah.

Today was pretty dull though. I did laundry, and listened to the revival broadway cast recording of Company. I came to campus and played some pinball. Visigoth showed up and saw some of my games. It was sad because I got like 42 million my first game, which was amazing, then like 6 mil my second, 2 mil my third, and then 15,951,050 my last. (Replay was 16 million. GRR!) I guess I still averaged 15 million, which is what I claimed to Robert on saturday... after pinball I got dinner at Taste of Highlander with tom7, Martin, and Carl. I ate too much, but it was ok because food was decent tonight; they had mediocre navratan curry and fresh nan and the usual tikka masala. We came back to the lounge and Carl and I played a game of Speedler with dkitchin and jlin3 to waste the half hour or so we had to waste.

Then we went to Purnell to see the drama department's production of Sondheim's Company.

It was a really good performance - the singing and acting and dancing were all fabulous, the stage was gorgeous, even if they didn't have the super-cool magnets and mystical moving fountains this year. But, the director took some directions with the show that weren't so great - he changed one of Bobby's three girlfriends into a gay guy friend. Now, the guy playing "Marty" (as opposed to Marta) did a *fabulous* job, even singing Marta's solo song in her range really really well, but... I think the whole homosexual theme sort of seemed forced in the show. I don't mind when people try things like this, but they need to do a slightly better job, I think. Eh. Anyway, the drama department always rocks, and I'd say that you should all go see it, except that it's totally and utterly sold out. (We only got tickets because tonight was a weird benefit show with general admission and stuff.) Although I still think that I adored their performance of A Little Night Music two years ago a lot more, mostly because, well, it's just a better show than Company, in terms of organization and music and all.

I think I've actually seen almost all of the major musicals that have music and lyrics by Sondheim now. I guess I've either seen or have the soundtrack from A Funny thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (both), Anyone Can Whistle (sdtk), Company(both), A Little Night Music(both), Sweeney Todd(sdtk), Merrily We Roll Along(sdtk), Sunday in the Park With George(both), Into the Woods(Both), and Assassins(both). The only musicals of his I really dunno much about are Do I Hear a Waltz?, Follies, Pacific Overtures, and Passion. I really like Sondheim, incase you didn't know that already (hi Carl). I've even seen like four different productions of Into the Woods, and seven productions of Assassins, including working on two of them. Actually, I guess I just really like musicals in general, but I've always liked Sondheim a lot better than most others just because of his sheer number of words.

Maybe I should put him in as my 101st interest! Whee.
