So I had an interview at CMU today. After that I hung out in Wean, except like nobody was there. I talked to Nick a lot and Martin a little. I played SimCity. Then I met up with Charlie and Kevin and went to Kassab's on the South Side, where we took up like half of the available space in the restaurant with our 9-person group (we met up with Shafeeq, Alex, Mahim, Pete, Karen, and Rochberg there).

I don't really like the selection of food at Kassab's although they have good pitas and hummus, and their iced tea was kind of cool, it tasted minty. But, the waiter accidentally made it so my moussaka that I ordered for dinner came like 10 minutes after everyone else had food. I totally stuffed myself with pitas and then couldn't finish the moussaka. Oops.

It was cold out so we didn't do our usual Carson Street thing of walking to the greek place for desserts (and Beehive for pinball). Instead, I got a ride home from Rochberg and just hung out here for the evening because it was so cold out. I spent a lot of time working on DDR sound files. I ripped all of the Club Appends and put in ID3 information for them, and did 1st mix as well, and re-ripped my 3rd mix soundtrack (I discovered that I actually was encoding everything at 56kbps instead of 128, I hadn't even noticed that audiograbber was using the crappy encoder, so I downloaded LAME and now will probably have to re-rip a bunch of things to make CDs out of them). I'm going to re-do my "best of DDR" mix since last time I did it, it took 1 CD and was up to Extra Mix. Now I have the 5th mix and 6th mix soundtracks, and the club appends... I'll have to figure out a way to rip DCT and Disney, and maybe make a 3-CD set of my favorite stuff (it seems I have 7 hours and 10 minutes of DDR music on my computer right now, not counting the full versions of some songs, especially the Korean ones from DDR 3rd Korea ver 2 that I got from someone on the DDR LJ community). It'll make good stuff to listen to if I go on more trips, or walk around more, or whatever.

Speaking of which, I'm beginning to think about the possibility of just not getting a job until May or June... since we will probably leave Pittsburgh after Eli finishes his PhD. That's scary. I don't really believe it, to tell you the truth, but that's ok. The question is what to do with all the time between now and then. I'd love to go to Japan, but something tells me that's not what you're supposed to do when you have no job. Blah.

Oh yah, anyone who cares, the Ricochet Robot daily challenge is back up, after a 3-week or so hiatus.

Hm, maybe I'll put in a poll about something I need to ponder.
Ok, so it has been brought to my attention that there are many plans I've considered for March 23rd now... (well... I expressed interest in the DDR ones to separate groups before knowing that Tim was coming to town... I suppose the DDR ones will be sort of relatively expensive though)

[Poll #21066]
happy birthday laura, sean, carl eastlund, james cheney, jason specland, mark shieh, adam blyweiss, and everyone else I've not bothered to send birthday greetings to in the past week. blah.
