This amused me, so I'm posting it here.

I slipped the following note under my downstairs neighbors' door:

Dear Residents of 202 -

1) I wanted to apologize for the "stomping" sounds you may have heard from my apartment in the past. I have a variety of exercise things I do, and one of them is a dancing game that sometimes gets too fast for me to control how hard I'm stepping on the floor.
&nsbp; I realize that I should not play it after 10 or 11pm (whenever quiet hours are) and I will do my best to keep to that quiet hour schedule and to keep the music down when I do play.
2) This Tuesday night I have some friends coming over to play music video games. We hope not to make too much noise, but if there is a problem, please come upstairs and let us know. Again, we will be done by 10 or 11pm.

Thanks -- Deanna, Apartment 302.

The reply, received a few hours later:

Deanna,

Don't worry about the noise. That was one of our asshole friends trying to hook up and he was whining about the stomping. Make all the noise you want. We play guitar really loud till like 3am and you guys don't complain. The only thing we hear is the treadmill and it doesn't bother us. Make all the noise you want. Sorry our friend banged on the ceiling. If we get noisy please tell us. Hope you get buff!

Greg (and Roomate Fran), Apartment 202

Heh, my downstairs neighbors are cool after all. I was worried because of the banging on the floor the other night that I'd really pissed them off.. I had a lot of trouble with that in my last building.
Today: D&D, Sunday Dinner. That's really about it. Well, and playing Settlers on an ass-slow server with Laurel and Barbara and Keith. Next time it's laggy like that I'm just going to quit after half an hour, since nobody should ever spend 2 hours of their life playing a game like that online if they have people to play it with in real life regularly.

I'm hosting the IMSO (the "interactive music simulation organization") meeting on Tuesday night, so anyone who wants to come over and play DDR, Para Para, Beatmania, etc, is welcome to. It should start around 8 and go until around 11.

I just finished reading The Count of Monte Cristo.

Odd.. the movie really totally deviated from the book. I mean, the spirit of it all, and the general storyline (guy gets wrongfully imprisoned, guy escapes eventually, guy seeks revenge, guy realizes that vengeance isn't everything, guy is redeemed) is the same. But what happens to everyone who is not the Count is utterly different. One of the best characters, Noirtier, for example, is killed early on in the movie (don't worry, he has another name in the movie altogether anyway, so it isn't a spoiler), but lives through the whole book and is very interesting - as a paraplegic, he has more power than many of the other characters, it's really funny. What happens to Mercedes, Albert, etc... totally different. The main romantic pair of the last third of the book, Maximillian and Valentine, don't even exist in the movie. There's this lovely intrigue and murder mystery that make it such a good story. Although it would have been nice to have slightly more of an ending. I guess in serials, you only really get the one last chapter to tie everything together... but still.

I wonder what past movies of this story have been like. I would wonder how much they had to change to make it coherent and 2 hours long as well.
