dr4b: (pouty)
I'm going to sleep now. I hope I'm okay tomorrow.

Long story short: We're back in Pittsburgh, but we had weird dim sum with Stewart and Sippy this morning, and got big Lee's Hoagies for dinner that we ate on the turnpike. At 8pm I started feeling queasy; at 9:30 I definitely was feeling heartburn; 10:30pm we got home, midnight I started throwing up, 12:45 I threw up again; 1am we went to the hospital... and we just got home. I totally freaked out about needles as usual, so they basically said "go home and good luck sleeping". They did get my urine sample, so they said I don't seem to have an infection - they think it was a stomach virus.

I'm going to sleep now, I'll expand on this entry tomorrow.

Ok, so upon waking up I feel a lot better. My stomach is still queasy but it's not horribly painful or anything. I haven't tried eating or drinking vast quantities of anything today, just sips of Diet Sprite, but I'm going to try to eat in a little while. I may even go to work and Kiltie - no reason to skip them if I'm just going to lay around being bored and not in particular pain.

Some details about yesterday that I feel important to include in my journal, anyway:

  • The Blue Mountain rest stop, mile 202 of the turnpike, has Medieval Madness. I spotted it from 150 feet away as soon as we came into the building. How sad is that?

  • Lee's Hoagies really are just the best sandwiches ever. It pains me to have not eaten half of my sandwich, but I'd rather not risk throwing up again. It was soooooooo delicious. Philly is the only place I ever really get happy sandwiches... with crispy lettuce, soft delicious bread, yummy fillings, etc.

  • Joy Tzin Lau is a great place for dim sum, as always. Four people is a better number than two for it, though the groups of ten from my BBS days in highschool were even better. I'm trying to figure out if there's something that I ate there that triggered this, since the last three times I've thrown up in my life in the last 3-4 years has basically been after eating Chinese food. I pretty much knew what all the stuff I ate was... and I avoided eating the icky snails that everyone else ate. Infact the only thing I ate that nobody else did was the Jello - I wonder if that did it?

  • I need to learn to drive.

  • The Reading Terminal Market, as I thought, is closed on Sundays.

  • UPMC is a dreadful place to sit for half an hour at 1:30am when your stomach is contorting in pain.

  • But, UPMC ER had the weirdest toilets I ever saw - they were like, under the sinks, and you can just pull it out and use it, like you would a trash can or something. I guess this makes it easier for them to get urine samples.

Oh well. Off to shower and change and decide what next.
