FOTR and some other stuff

Today I SLEPT A LOT. It felt good. I woke up at like 3pm and goofed off for the afternoon. Showered, changed, etc... and went over to Megan and Josh's house, where many people (Megan and Josh, their friend Bill who was in town, and Caitlin and some other guy (Mike?), and Heidi and Cory, and Justin and Colleen, and Miranda) were there to watch the Fellowship of the Ring Extended Remix. We watched some of the "easter egg" stuff beforehand, like the MTV version of the Council of Elrond with Jack Black, and then some of the "making of LOTR" stuff. Bill made meatloaf and potatoes for dinner and they were FANTASTIC. Then we started the movie. But, sadly, people kept talking through it. Now, many of you (particularly [personal profile] orangey and [profile] random_boy, being members of the original Sunday Night crew) will remember that I'm all for making fun of movies when it's warranted. But LOTR is not something to MST3K, in my opinion... especially not when watching the extended version which some people hadn't seen before. I missed out on a bunch of the extra dialogue due to people talking and laughing, which made me sad. So I was in a pretty sad mood for part of it (even kicked Bill for making some stupid joke at one point).

Still, we took an intermission at the end of the first DVD, made popcorn, talked some... and the movie turned really dark at that point (the first DVD ends at the Council of Elrond). So it was harder to heckle, hence people didn't, so stuff got better. And, I was really happy with some of the added footage. They REALLY fixed the Lothlorien scene. I would have been really happy if a lot of that stuff had been in the movie originally, I think.

Also, I have to admit that I really no longer find Legolas totally hot like I did last year. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's that I'm so uninclined to find anyone hot anymore.

Hmm, we hung out for a bit after the movie, and then came home. Now I'm goofing off online as usual. For some reason I want to play UmJammer Lammy. I blame Rebecca.

We found that it was much easier to get through Extended FotR with the subs on, since the crowd is incapable of not talking through something unless it's like the last episode of Utena.

I sympathize. Watching stuff with people who just don't take it as seriously as you do can really suck, especially since you feel bad afterwards for resenting their relativistically valid manner of having fun, even if it is dumb.

... I never knew who found Legolas hot. I always thought he looked like my son....

Yeah, i was a tiny bit annoyed at all the commentary. It wasn't like people didn't enjoy the movie, because everyone loves that movie. Its just that some people couldn't help making comments. I kept giving them dirty looks. I don't know if it helped, but it made me feel better.

But, the movie kicked butt, and our new subwoofer is something else!

Now, I suppose one could MST3K that movie, but definitely not when there are people present who haven't seen the extended version.

And I'm still pissed off at the extended Lothlorien scene. Sam gets rope?! No! There was rope in all of the boats! Sam got dirt and a tree seed! How is he going to help restore the Shire without them?!

The other thing I'm pissed off about is that the promotions for The Two Towers don't hide the fact that Gandalf returns. At least they hid the Ents (until the latest few).

Want to be pissed off? What I heard was that there's gonna be no scouring of the Shire, period.

Arrarrarrarrarr! But, I suppose I should wait and see before I pass judgement. (=

On another subject, I know there's Lord of the Peeps, but has anyone thought of The Fellowship of the Feebles?

Butter butter butter joins 'da bowl!

Hmm, I like Parappa better. It frustrates me, but not as much as UmJammer Lammy. And I love the songs.
