Halloweekend, Part 3

So, I'm currently writing this update from Ralph and Lori's computer, because most of everyone else at Sunday dinner is downstairs carving pumpkins. I, of course, should not be trusted with sharp implements and big tough vegetables. (Ok, so I had a few bad experiences carving my fingers up at earlier Halloweens in my life. Shrug.) Since I know that later most of the people downstairs ([personal profile] eub, [personal profile] ralphmelton, [profile] lorimelton, [profile] mrpeck, [personal profile] cellio.. hmm, and Dani isn't carving pumpkins either, so I guess the only non-LJers carving are the Placeways), I hope you guys don't think I'm mad or anything. Actually, far from it. I got to read through the rules of Chez Dork and look through the cards (I don't think I entirely get the game. I need to see it played -- some of the rules and cards seem to contradict each other. Also, did you notice that the obsession cards have 2 obsessions each and they can make two separate cycles if you pair them up like dominos? But I digress. Yes, I've read most of Dork Tower, that's not why I don't get the game, if you're wondering). Anyway, hmm. The thing is, I have to do a whole bunch of stuff to make up for work I didn't do Friday when I get home, so I figure that getting this LJ-updating and friends-reading out of the way now will save me a good half hour to 45 minutes later.

So today we slept in because of lovely Daylight Savings time. I went to CVS and got my antibiotics. I was late for Ragnarok D&D, except... there was no Ragnarok D&D because Deryck can't make Sundays anymore, Jim is still sick (which I don't get because I saw him at the movie in McConomy Friday night, although I guess I am still sick, though I am certainly well enough to play D&D or go to work...), and Colin apparently forgot we had D&D or something. So Drew and Carl were there and I was like "Uh... this sucks. I'll be out of town next weekend. We have to figure out some way to work around schedules. Ugh." So Eli and I went to Squill to grocery shop, except I made him go to Boston Market first so I could get lunch. Mmmm, Boston Market. I love Boston Market. At lunch I took the first two antibiotic pills (which is why I wanted lunch, the pharmacist said that I'd probably have a good chance of weird reactions to it the first day if at all, so I should take it with food). Then we went to Geagle; by the time I got home my stomach felt pretty swooshy and I had to lie down for a while. Then instead of doing something productive, I played Simcity for 2 hours. My city is up to 300,000 people now though! Since it covers the whole screen, I think I'll start a new one or something. Yeah.

At Geagle we ran into Catherine Copetas. I saw her the other day on campus as well. I always have fun talking to her since she is one of the few people who is more up on SCS alumni gossip than me. She suggested I come in and talk to her about what stuff I'd like to be doing in the future sometime. Hmm...

Anyway, we are at Sunday dinner now. I wish, as always, that I had a camera with me. I should just buckle and get a digital camera already, since I could then just take pictures of whatever I want without worrying about film, etc. I dunno. We had a tasty dinner of some sort of vegetarian chili that had just about every sort of bean you could possibly put into chili, and stuff. Whee.

Hmm. Last night my PSX was on the fritz quite a bit, too. Like in DDR 2nd ReMix people would fail songs and the music would suddenly cut out. I've never seen it do that normally, but... I'm not sure, I'm hoping it's not on its way to destruction or anything. I have kind of beaten the crap out of it in the past year, figuratively, with all the DDR I've played and all the places I've brought it. So I'm trying to figure out what I would get if I had the money. Well, or at least if I felt like spending money. I guess I should start making this as a Christmas wish list or something... I'm thinking it'd at least contain the following:

note: this list has been edited 11/7, to append which things i acquired

  • Japanese Playstation 2 (acquired)
  • Para Para Paradise (and controller) (acquired both)
  • Guitar Freaks (and controller)
  • Beatmania IIDX Style (and controller) (acquired both)
  • Some more Dreamcast games
  • Some more computer games... Simcity 3000? Icewind Dale?
  • Song and Silence (the bard and rogue book, out around December)
  • Digital Camera
  • a printer for my computer
  • Kittens!
  • More movies, CDs, etc.
  • More boardgames, although I haven't decided which ones I really liked enough that I've played recently that I would actually buy.

See, I am so gratuitous. These are all so frivolous, but I will probably acquire them at some point or another. And of course, I literally don't have time right now for all of the toys I have, so I'm not sure what makes me think I'd have time for more toys.

The thing is, I enjoy buying silly things. And in general I am happy to share my silly things with my friends, whether it's movies, board games, video games, etc. I guess this is basically a result of not driving or having a car, that I can buy silly little things instead of paying for one big thing.

Anyway... it seems that pumpkin-carving is over, so I will go hang out with people now.
