Want some rye? Course ya do.

I drove to work today because I knew I was going to Illusionz in the evening.

Went to Westlake with [personal profile] pauldf for lunch. I ate McDonald's food. Bad me.

Work was dreary. I left around 5:30, met up with [profile] aquatwo at Uwajimaya, and we went to IZ, getting there around 6-6:15ish. Nobody was there at that point except Laura. So Steve and I played a whole bunch of DDR... and some Para Para... and some more DDR... and I did some other Bemani... and gradually other people showed up. Ryan and Becky came back from dinner, and PR was there, and Kiefer had his AM-3P and Ecstasy edits, which worked! So whee, you apparently can make edits in DDR MAX USA and bring them to the arcade. Hyunsuk was there, and it's silly because he's like one of the best players in the area but he doesn't enter tournaments. Hrmm... Joe and Ryan showed up around 7:30 or so I guess... hmm. I played some KBM cheating with Joe (we played doubles but I took the left keyboard and he took the right keyboard). I did some DrumMania; I like "Dear My Friend" a lot. Oh, and I can pass Ride on the Light on KBM, just on Light, but still. I love that song! Hmm... I did manage to get Ever Snow down to 2 non-combo steps twice, but both times were at 1.5x. The one time I played the BeForU Oni, I died on it. I also died on Higher a bunch in N130... I suck. Oh, and at least I got a B on LTR today... I really do need to learn it at some point. Whee. Other good DDR people were there at various points; Cracker was there perfecting the heck out of all the edits and just about everything, and Charlie was there for a bit, with Tanya, who actually said hi to me. That was cool. Hopefully the IIDX party will make me less shy around everyone.

Achievements of the evening: I PASSED DEAD END! AND KAKUMEI! AND BURNING HEAT AGAIN! WHEEEE! yay catas for Dee!

After DDR, Steve and I drove to Krispy Kreme, where we hung out with Ryan and Joe for an hour and a half or so, until the place was inundated with highschoolers. See, when we got there, Joe was still doing DDR stuff, and so one of the bored KK employeees said "hey, if you shake your butt for 30 seconds, we'll give you 6 free donuts." So Joe danced around like an idiot for 30 seconds (while Ryan and I pretended not to know him, and Steve appeared to be amused), and got 6 free donuts. Then we bought donuts for real, and stuff. I ate all of my 4 donuts this time, and got on a major sugar high, augmented by talking about my upcoming trip to Pittsburgh, which makes me happy happy happy. Explaining CMU and the KGB and stuff is really tough sometimes, you know that? Anyway, apparently the dance-for-30-seconds-and-get-free-donuts offer extended to others, as when about fifty highschoolers came in, we kept seeing them dance around like idiots. Eventually it just got horribly loud, so we left. Whee.

Dropped Steve off, came home... AND I HAD A PACKAGE ON THE PORCH WHICH CONTAINED MY NEW PS2!!!!!

So I thumb-thumb-revolutioned for like 2 hours. I suck. DDR MAX USA is kinda funky, but I still prefer playing in the arcade, thank you. Didn't get around to FFX or Frequency because of how late it got. At least maybe now I'll no longer care about an empty social life :)

Quote of the evening: "Oh, honey, smell the new PS2! It smells so NEW! And so FRESH!"

I'm probably forgetting a lot of stuff about today, but oh well.

I find it amusing. You were putting off getting an american PS2 while I was putting off getting a Japanese one. And as for you DDR skills you are passing songs that I still can't pass. Good for you.
