1) So, I put a webcounter on my DDR Cosplay page last Monday. Since then it's gotten like 330 hits. I had no idea anyone really bothered to look at the page at all... maybe I *should* spend a little more time on it.

2) I finished reading the second KOR manga today and started #3. So, the first one has Madoka looking all cute and innocent on the cover. The second has Hikaru and Madoka messing with Kyosuke's mind. The third... has Madoka in a bathing suit, posed provocatively in the shower. Okay, so I realized it must look a little weird on the bus for a twenty-something female to be reading Japanese comic books with sexy bathing-suit pictures on the cover. So what did I do? Well, I happened to have a Marmalade Boy manga in my bag as well. I swapped the KOR cover with the MB cover, and now I have an innocent picture of Miki on the cover instead of a not-so-innocent picture of Madoka. Whee.

3) Oh yeah, and Bob Rost made my day by IMing me, "hey deanna, if you were any nintendo-type theme arranged for marching band for an alumni's visit, which theme would you be?" and I said "I would be an FF theme... barring that, I'd be Burning Heat, the background music from the second level of Gradius II." he said "cool, I'll look into it," and I sent him a midi and the DDR remix of the song and he said he'd try to get it together for the scatter show! Bob ROCKS! I have to remember to bring a tape recorder to Pittsburgh. :) :) :)

For an even more effective strategy, hide the KOR manga inside another book, preferably "Categories for Types". Then the teacher will NEVER know!

Actually, I direct a lot of people to it who ask about DDR cosplay. It's pretty comprehensive so I like to support it. ^_^

Heh, and since you actually are pretty well-known in cosplay circles, that's probably good advertising for me. :) Do you have any advice of more stuff I could actually do with the page than just have the pictures? I've been mostly uninspired, although I was debating putting up maybe my own commentary on how to do some of the characters (you know, like "Ni-Na - requires blue tank/strap shirt, pink pants, striped long-sleeve jacket around waist, orange bandanna, bracelets. Optional: shoulder-length blue hair wig. Difficulty: 2, assuming you live near a mall." I just worry about that sounding pretentious, since I haven't done most of the costumes myself and have no idea how hard it might be to make, say, decent Devil-Zukin wings.

I've also hit your cosplay page when looking for character pictures. It's one of the top hits for Devil-Zukin, I think.

Yeah, DZ is like the most popular costume (DZ, Yuni, and Alice).

Do you have "canonical" pictures of your costume yet, so I can put them up there (assuming you want me to)?

I don't know what you mean by canonical, but the stuff up on costumes page are what I'm using right now. Oh, there only seems to be one picture there. I might also snarf the pictures from coraline at some point.

I would love to up there. I've actually been checking to see if you'd added me.

"canonical" I basically meant, "your favorite poses that best display the outfit". Sort of like that one awesome Karniz Devil-Zukin pose that I think totally best shows off her 4th Mix DZ costume.

I'll grab those pics and add them next time I update though. (I tend not to update until I have at least 10-15 new pictures)

I was going to just bring a recorder (the plastic woodwind instrument) to goof off with in the stands. I guess I could ask Mr. Gerlach if there are extra baritones, but I'm really out of practice... and there's no way I could bring one on the plane :) Maybe I'll get mine out sometime this week and see how poorly I do... it could be pretty boring to sit there the whole game without an instrument. :)

I didn't know Burning Heat came from Gradius II. It's one of my two favourite songs/tunes on brakusjs's Bemani 3-65 online radio station. Very interesting!

We actually had an arrangement of Bubble Bobble last year, but it didn't go over very well...

Yeah, so Burning Heat is like my favorite song in DDR 7th Mix. It's also in Beatmania IIDX 7th Mix, and is from Gradius II, and all-around kicks ass. Do you really play a lot of Bemani games, or just listen to the music? I forget if I asked this already (because I'm dumb).

Never played a Bemani game in my life, though I do own a cheap knock-off home game with a cheapo plastic mat and admire the Bemani concept from afar. I do like the music a lot too.
