Shortcut to dr4b

There's a little folder shortcut on my desktop that says "Shortcut to dr4b", which really means "shortcut to the folder full of junk files that I don't know what to do with yet, which for whatever reason I decided to call dr4b", but makes me think that it'd be sort of funny to write a poem or filk song or something with that title.

So, I'm working at home today, which basically means that because I have a doctor's appointment at 4:30 and didn't feel good enough to stand up until around 1pm, it seemed silly to walk through the cold while I've got a cold/flu/whatever anyway. What this means is that I'm sitting here writing up instructions about using CVS to add pages to our intranet, while drinking a lot of hot chocolate and wearing no pants. I turned on the heat in this room and now the entire room kinda smells like burning dust. Ugh. On the other hand, the combination of hot chocolate and cold ice cream feels really good on my sore throat - i'm feeling kinda tolerable and I haven't taken any more acetominophen today (I don't want to be at the doctor's feeling "fine" when she presses into my throat places and asks if it hurts).

Oh, and arguing with Carl about translating song lyrics. He seems to feel you need to be entirely precise and get the exact semantic translation, although I have a feeling he's just saying this to be annoying.

It sucks, I want to go to stuff tonight and tomorrow and all, but being sick is sucky. I'm also trying to figure out which Halloween parties I haven't been invited to and whether I was just overlooked and would be welcome or whether I was left out on purpose. This is a really petty and stupid thing to do, but... i guess it is more wondering whether i will get to see all the people i'd like to see in the party season or not. hmm. I also haven't actually figured out what to do on Halloween day itself, either. I wonder if trick-or-treating will be normal this year and actually be on October 31.

October 31st, also, is the birthday of Bill Schulz, who was in a lot of my undergrad creative writing courses, and who was one of the really entertaining and fun people in class. I haven't seen him since graduation in '98, and I was just thinking how I wonder what he's up to now. I guess it's motivations like this that actually cause people to go to class reunions and stuff.

I'm not being annoying.

By claiming to not being annoying, you are being annoying. :)
