Gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta update. I mean jam!
^ Charlie doesn't believe me, but it's true.
I have just been dead tired at work. I think I should sleep after updating this, maybe get 6 hours instead of 5 tonight. I didn't get nearly enough done today; well, I got a second draft of the thingy and started reading through things for my next project. But. I spent too much time being tired and too much other time being depressed over EPOXY! and the people involved with it. Got home around 6:30; slept on the bus home; slept for about 10 minutes when I got there; got up, and then drove Eli to the U-district for his book group thingy, and then I drove to Issaquah for my weekly Bemani fix.
I'll LJ-cut while I babble about DDR.
This week I wore jeans instead of my sports pants because I haven't done laundry recently. It turns out that wearing my smaller-sized jeans is really good for DDR (my normal-sized ones tend to fall down). Anyway, most of my focus this week was on DDR, since the lines were shorter than usual and so there wasn't as much motivation to play DM/GF/KBM/etc. My warmup ended up being on USA instead of 4th+ Solo because it was taken for a while; I full-comboed Keep On Movin' Maniac with a really sweet Perfect ratio (but not 100% or anything) and it gave me an AAA, which was just weird. :) I did have a very nice Para Para break at one point, hanging out with Shiguma (Ryan), Sniggy (Becky), and Sniggy's mom, who were working on calculus at a table in the back near the Para Para machine. So when I came over they took a break for some PPP, which was way fun - they're really nice people. Ryan plays with no arrows AND no Para Para Chick and he does all the moves, which is neat to watch, but hard to shadow. :( Anyway, the highlight of my night was full-comboing So Fabulous So Fierce standard not once but TWICE, and one of those times was during a Nearly 130 Oni attempt, so I got to the third song! Whee! And then I failed in the middle. Whoops. I ended up basically sharing the non-airhockey-side MAX2 machine with Torgo (Jeremy) for the last hour there, since the lines had died down a lot; we switched off turns since one pad was bad. I kept trying Onis and failing, of course. :) He was working on doubles, so it was all good. I also watched the antics on the other MAX2 machine. UnBlinkingEye Charlie was trying to AA Burning Heat Heavy, which was just astounding - I can't even PASS it, and he did it three times in a row, getting A's on the first two, and purposefully failing the third after he broke his 250-or-so combo. Jesus. Nykkel was doing lots of impressive Heavy doubles, and even did MAXX Unlimited double as an extra stage (which he didn't last very long into). Farren was doing a splendid job on Onis, but he keeps getting killed by the Higher Oni mix. I didn't get to see his new "9-foot non-stamina-buster Ordinary World edit", unfortunately. Oh, and I got to meet Mighty Florist, another Team Seattle member, who seems like a really really nice guy.
In the last few minutes of DDRage, I played a last set with Jeremy. He let me pick all the songs, since he had just played a stamina-buster set. So I picked "ever snow", which I think I'm getting more of a feel for on Heavy. Then I picked B4U, did it on Trick, and got 223/15/000. I can't remember if that's my best ever but it's damn close. Then I put him through Burning Heat Heavy again. I got my status bar to full and then failed during the gallops (and so did he, having passed it 5 minutes previous). Ah well. Maybe I should give up on it for now. I walked out with Jeremy and we talked about how "these silly kids, half of them weren't even born when we got our first Atari 2600's or Nintendos" and stuff. Wacky. Shame Joe wasn't there this week, because I was in the mood for donuts afterwards this time. :(
I would have gotten back from IZ in 20 mins, since I've now got this I-5 -> 99 via Mercer thing down really well. But unfortunately the ramp to I-90 west at Issaquah was blocked off for construction, and there was this weird-ass detour on a bunch of small streets running near I-90. Blargh. Got home, have basically been goofing off on the computer since. I really should worry more about where the heck the time goes. I did attempt to update my homepage tonight a little; wrote a new "me" page, but now I think it sounds ninety times as pretentious as it did before. Oh well. I don't know how to convey "Hi, I'm interesting, I swear, even if I am a stereotypical nerdy chick" very well.
I'm serious, though - do any of you Seattleites want to join me sometime at Illusionz for some good DDR and some afterwards Krispy Kremes? It doesn't have to be on my Wednesday runs...
