Ok, I'm in Austin

Everyone else is playing Apples to Apples, but I kind of don't feel like it (I have noticed that I haven't felt like playing A2A in a really long time). So I am sitting on the computer updating LJ, on a loud clicky keyboard. Everyone == [profile] nickjong, [personal profile] bk1e, [personal profile] eub, [personal profile] tardis, [profile] zml, [personal profile] rupes, [personal profile] rehana, [personal profile] ubiquity, and [profile] meeshdoublel. Wow, not a non-LJer in the room :) We're at Adam and Rehana's place.

In reverse order, before this I was playing bridge with Zach and Adam and Nick, and before that finishing off a game of Settlers with Brad and Michelle and Nick, which was started before dinner. We drank mudslides, too. Dinner was at Texas Land and Cattle, where I had yummy but overdone sirloin. [profile] sheenaqotj and [profile] proz were also at dinner. Yay, I finally got to meet Proz! Yeah, we mostly talked about DDR, but hey, what else do I talk about anymore anyway? :) He had to go off to a DDR tournament in some other Texas city this weekend, so he won't hang out with us for DDR tomorrow, but oh well. Before dinner we waited for a while for Tom to get here (his flight was much later than ours) and played some Settlers, and hung out, and so on.

Eli and I did manage to get up early this morning, get to the airport quite on time, and got on our flight. We weren't sitting together so I fell asleep for almost all of the flight to Houston. Woke up, went a few gates away, found the flight to Austin. Eli waved at some people and I looked up and it was [profile] mg4h and [profile] gootmu! Whee. They sat next to us on the plane, oddly enough, too. When we got to Austin they were taking a shuttle to a hotel and we were renting a car and driving up northwards, so we parted ways. Got the car, got out of the airport, drove up through Austin, got here, etc.

Other filk ideas I had on the way here: "Walla Walla" by the Offspring, to be sung as "Para Para". And tonight it became obvious we must take the Starship song "We built this city" and change it to Settlers... "We built this city on rock and wheat".

It is really cool to be in Texas and really cool to see people. In the morning, DDR! In the afternoon, Chuy's! In the evening, a wedding! Sunday... maybe Iron Dragon since nobody felt like playing tonight. We'll see. I'll need to find something for Eli to do during that time.

If you're ever in a general filking mood, I would also like to see Tenacious D's "Tribute" (The best song in the world) made into a bridge filk: "The best lead in the world."

Jenoble and Christina and I have some clue to how it might go...
