Just another stupid song about Texas
Eli and I went to the Tractor Tavern to see the Austin Lounge Lizards tonight, since
ralphmelton informed us about it. They were pretty good, while they were performing (but the waiting around kinda sucked).
I got home from work tired, we went to Ballard, went to the tavern, and it turned out they didn't have food after all. So we went to some Harriet's Hat diner/cafe/bar/whoknows down the street and got sandwiches. Despite the appearance of the place, the sandwiches were really really yummy. We finished eating them around 8, but the band didn't actually come on stage until around 8:15, so I read more Death Gate. The waiting was somewhat annoying since the seats were uncomfortable and I was all tired.
They played two sets, taking a very long intermission in the middle. But, the place was packed, and apparently mostly packed with actual Austin Lounge Lizards fans, since a lot of the audience sang along and participated and stuff. I was feeling kind of dumb, since I mean, I've heard the lounge lizards a whole bunch of times at
ralphmelton's place and I even bought two of their CDs at Half Price Books back in Pittsburgh a few months ago, but I didn't really get to listen to them before they got packed up for the move. Ugh. So some songs sounded familiar, but that was about it. They were all amusing in their own way. I had forgotten how much I like bluegrass, I guess. Still, it was good. I would go see them again.
I would guess the average age of the audience was like 40 yrs old, too, which is weird for concerts I go to. Of course, maybe that is also the average age of the guys in the band. :)
Blargh, maybe I'll go try to finish Death Gate book 5 and go sleep before 1. I hope.
