Yesterday sucked.

I left work "early", that is, like 6pm, so I could get home by 7 and go play some DDR somewhere.

I got home around 6:45 and Eli wasn't there. Meaning, the car wasn't there either. I was really frustrated because I'd even tried calling home a few times before coming there, got no answer, and should have realized that duh, he wasn't there, no car either. But there I was, stuck at home, no Eli, no car, and no way to get to DDR.

or was there? By 7:15 Eli still wasn't home so I hopped on a 358 bus and went to the Seattle Center...

...only to find that after Labor day, THE ARCADE CLOSES AT 7PM. Oh, fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. So there I am, at the Seattle Center, nearly in tears. I don't know why I got so worked up over this. I call home (it's like 7:35 at this point) and Eli's there. Well, fuck. I cry at him and get him to come pick me up.

We go home. It's 8pm. Too late to go to IZ, it closes at 9. Hmm. I look up Quarters and call them. They're open till 11. Hmm... but, I didn't know if I wanted to go alone after dark to a neighborhood and an arcade I've never been to. Probably irrational even further, but nobody's saying I was thinking rationally at this point. So I ditch DDR for the evening. We go out for sushi. Or more like, we go to Mori, nearby, where Eli has sushi and I have tonkatsu and tempura. It wasn't bad. Then I unpacked some more boxes, read some more of Dragon Wing, and went to sleep.

As an aside, this is my third time or so trying to start the Death Gate cycle. Finally, since I was reading it on buses, I was able to get past page 100, where it picked up speed, and now I kind of want to just read through it all. I guess that's good. I've been so bad about reading books the past few years, but now that I don't have an extensive social circle eating up all of my time, I guess I'll have time for reading books again. I still don't know if this is a good thing.

I read most of that series. It was for the most part enjoyable. I liked the interesting little worlds the books had.

The Death Gate cycle is okay if you need some shallow cheesy fantasy to relax... Trite, hackneyed, but what do you expect from Weis & Hickman? Haplo's a cool character, and Zifnab (or is it Fizban or Nabzif?) is amusing. If you like more action-oriented fantasy you might like it more, I guess.

Zifnab. Fizban was the Dragonlance instance of the character.

I really enjoyed the series, but then again that was some time in high school. The first four, the ones that actually introduce new worlds, were very entertaining. After that it's just okay....

Holy crap! The Death Gate cycle!! XD I read that back in high school, I think... it was pretty blah and I don't remember much about it. But the characters had funny names. I think Dragonlance was better.
