i'm hungry, so i'll go eat lunch now

note: if you sent AIM messages to me in the past week, i wasn't actually logged in, megan's laptop automatically logged me in on dialup. weird, huh? i'll fix that tonight or sometime. but, if you see me on AIM now it should be me. i'm running GAIM through CMU occasionally at work (i'm not supposed to run it though, so i'm not going to do it often)

i have noticed how totally useless my computer feels to me without a net connection. i can't work on my DDR cosplay page, and i can't send mail or websurf or anything, and i can't even do things like translate japanese songs because i sort of need Edict (maybe that's available offline, i dunno), and so on. heck, i don't even want to rip CDs because i want to get the track names from CDDB. i'm such a net.freak.

anyway, yesterday i stuck around work until like 6pm, then came home to the new house, except like the slacker i am, i convinced Eli to go out to eat at Ivar's instead of just having food at home. that might have been dumb. we had really good food and sat outside and watched the sun set over seattle, but i guess we would have saved a lot of time and money by having tortellini at home. oh well. i unpacked some books. yay. went to sleep early, too. i'm a little less zonked today. so obviously i need to start going to sleep at like 11pm or something. ugh.

we need plans for Labor Day, besides Bumbershoot on Saturday. any Seattle people want to suggest anything?

I don't know, that sounds like a great night to me. You (assumedly) had a good time together, so the time wasn't wasted. And the money? It's just money, you're working, you'll get more of it.

We're planning to go hike on Rainier on Monday, and then come back home and have a barbecue. I know y'all already hiked Rainier last week, but you're welcome to join us for the barbecue that afternoon if you liked. Also, what trails did you go on last weekend?

You're planning on hiking and barbecueing? It'll take you more than two hours to drive to Ranier, and then two more to get home. Just a word of warning...

We drove up to Sunrise, on the North side of the mountain. It is worth doing this if you haven't been up there before, because Sunrise isn't open very often.

We hiked the Mt. Fremont look out trail. As you may have gathered, this is not a very difficult trail in terms of hiking capability, but it can be scary if you have issues with heights. It is about 6 miles round trip.

From that location there is also a Sunrise crest trail, which looks way cool. And one that goes down into the valley (i forget what it is called) that was fun.

If you don't feel like going to Sunrise (among other things, think crowded), there are a number of good trails leaving from Longmire. If you've been to the top of rainier before, i would recommend one of these (and maybe the Grove of the Patriarchs trail).

Now, you got some recommendations for me? I'm also planning on going hiking on Monday - but i want to go out rt 2 this time...

And, btw, Dee - i'm planning on going hiking on Monday. We have miscellanous plans on the other weekend days, but may have some time to hang around and eat food and play games.

You can download the edict dictionary in flat file format. At least, you can do so with the romanji dictionary. I'm pretty sure you can to do with the full characters one too.

Er... download it somewhere else, load it on to some form of media and walk it home to have locally on your computer.
