lunch and imso and i dunno stuff whee
Today I went to lunch at Tessaro's (again) with
jcreed. It was ok to go back, since today they had tuna steak and yesterday they didn't. I'm not sure whether they vaguely screwed up our orders or not, but they were nice enough to let us sit there for hours and hours (I don't think I got home until like, 2:45pm) and talk about lots of random stuff, mostly linguistic-related (we left doodles of letterforms in various languages and tables of esperanto and alphabets in Korean). I don't think I've talked to Jason nearly enough in the past few months and I feel kind of bad about that but good that we had lunch today and all.
After that I time-managed my afternoon, getting my laundry done AND picking up my pictures from squirrel hill and packing stuff to bring to IMSO and doing a little more sewing and a little more cleaning. But, there still is so much more to be done. My Capture the B34R costume still looks dumb, but I think most big sewing is over and now it's just, fixing the sleeves and all. Whee.
IMSO was fun. I brought DDR MAX since it was my last meeting. A LOT of people showed up... there were two newbies that I think were somehow friends of
sorakirei, or something. And she left early, too, before we busted out the Para Para Paradise (much to Mike's chagrin but much to
alibash and
alternakittyn's delight. The latter two people and myself made up the "Para Para All Nerds" for a large section of the PPP session. Whee! I think it is WAY cool how Krispy is willing to do PPP moves with us!). We got Ian to do his "demon boy" Para Para stuff (wherein he does all of this bizarre crap to hit the arrows and ignore the routines), and we even got
whitemage to try it! yay Dave! I had never seen Dave play DDR before but he's decent for someone who kept claiming he sucks over and over again. Oh yeah, and
rkane needs to be less competitive, although I think I like playing alongside him a lot because we're about at the same level of play (I get more perfects but he passes harder songs). Justin and Mike were actually playing DWI songs on a laptop to pass the time between real songs... that was pretty silly.
fleaplus just sort of slept through everything, and Bayani did a bunch of doubles, and
mg4h and gootmu were there for a while mostly watching people, and Dave and Susan Nolan showed up for a bit as well.
ancilla and
bedlamboy both showed up for the late shift of stuff. They had never seen 6th mix before, so it was fun to see them try the freeze arrows for the first time. Whee. I actually tried a bunch of options in 6th mix, too.. I played some on reverse, and a little on sped up (Ordinary World at x5 is pretty bad!). Justin wanted to see MAX 300 Heavy at x8. So we put that on his side and Bayani used boost and it was really funny - the arrows go by so fast you can't even really see them.
It was fun, it was good to see a lot of people, and I'm glad it still hasn't really set in that I saw some of them for the last time (for a while, at least) tonight. Like Justin hugged me goodbye, which was unexpected but cool, and made me realize I will miss him even though I don't know him that well. And I even ran into Gopi and Rob on the way to Doherty to grab my Settlers game, and then Eli and I ran into Kesden in his office at like 1:30am on our way out of Wean. I had this great conversation with him that was something like "I'm leaving town!" "Oh, you've graduated?" "Many years ago. I'm going to Seattle." "Working for the man?" "No, working for the man's bookstore." It occurs to me that I'm not positive he even actually knows my name, even though I have been talking to him for like three years (since he was Carl and Roman's OS teacher all those semesters ago).
Anyway, whee. Time to sleep I suppose.
