other things
we just watched Ghost World while Eli did his laundry. I have to do my laundry tomorrow I think. Otherwise I will be doomed.
I don't think I understood Ghost World. Well, not the ending, I don't really know where I expected it to end though. on some level it really just bugged me because it reminded me of how much I grew apart from one of my high school friends, to the point that when I see her now I want to smack her, usually. So I don't see her anymore. and I mean, it's like, Enid just fucks up Seymour's life completely and it's not like there's even any repercussions for it. That bugs me, like there's some weird imbalance.
anyway... shrug.
I forgot to note in my entry last night how cool it was to see Steinar at bridge. I remember meeting him like six years ago when he showed up at Rodef one day and just kicked ass at bridge and placed first with a random partner. Mark and I were in awe. Then he was cool enough to come play bridge with us at bridge club. I guess he's really busy now, but he said he would point his advisees at Noble's bridge class. Heh.
I think I ignored the 4th of July last year. I wish I could decide where to go for it this year. Sigh. I guess, well, I could just stay in town, for my last summer in Pittsburgh, and do the whole Pittsburgh 4th thing, and then celebrate birthdays and stuff with people (not just Rebecca, I think Regan is also having a party, and I haven't seen her in a while either). but I dunno. something about me is always inclined to GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

That's because you're an Orientalist. ;) ::sings:: "I'm an Orientalist, short and stout. Here is my passport, please let me out."

I haven't registered for anything yet either, but I'm not too worried; there will be plenty to do!
I hope you come to Origins with us! It would be really cool to see you and it would be a lot of fun!

maybe he has things he could do in Columbus also, or he could also go to Origins.
(I'd have to borrow his car to get there I think.)
the thing is I think I would rather just go up for two days rather than the whole thing...

argh, I really wish this didn't seem like such a good idea.

Anyway, Enid at the beginning of the movie reminds me of one of my friends from high school, whom I could imagine following people that look like Satanists, etc.
However, I was disappointed with the soundtrack album--partly because I read the liner notes, which are musically elitist to the point of being caustic, much more so than, say, Seymour. That, and they put the Blueshammer song on it (ugh).
