Pumping and trumping
I am no longer bummed. Sometimes I figure I shouldn't be allowed to vent online after a certain hour. Actually, I've been figuring that since sometime in 1991, but that's another story.
Anyway, what did I do today? I drove to the Waterfront. Ate a Happy meal from McDonalds. The toy inside was a little Tigger doll... I'm not sure what to do with it, maybe give it to
dlatimer. After that I went shopping at Target for a little while but honestly couldn't find anything I was looking for. I want a bag like Rebecca's to take with me for DDRing, but it's hard to find a good one. I might just start using an SCS totebag or something. Anyway.
After shopping a bit I went to Dave and Buster's to play Pump It Up. I had a decent time. For a while nobody else at all was playing or even watching or anything. I played mostly on Hard (I played one round on Normal because I wanted to just play some random K-Pop and see what was on there. Damn, I had no idea Tashannie's song 경고 (gyoung go / caution) was in PIU.. even if it's just Lvl 1, it was still cool. (That makes 3 DDR 3k2 songs I can play in PIU now... Tell Me Tell Me, 경고, and 호기심 (hogisim / curiosity). Whee! I also played some other songs by Fin.K.L and Baek Ji Young, who are other fun K-pop artists. At any rate, I passed Beethoven's Virus on Hard four times, which was good, and I got A's on lots of songs on Hard, which was also good. At one point a D&B employee was watching me play, and I did BV as my fourth bonus song and all the spins, so he went to play and I said "what level are you playing?" and he said "Hard, wanna play?" and so I played along with him. It was fun, he's probly at the same skill level as me (though he told me he thought I was really good). We did Run to You and Another Truth and Beethoven, and I really had fun with it... I find myself strangely hating the song Run To You but strangely addicted to it at the same time. (It's like, I hear it and want to puke, but find myself later singing to myself "yeah baby bounce with me bounce with me bounce bounce bounce with me!") Oh! And Rolling Christmas (hard) totally rocks for freestyling... well, spinning at least and some other stuff. I had a lot of fun with it.
After PIU I drove home and I showered and changed and chatted D&D with people on AIM while brushing out my hair.
Then I met up with Nick and we went to dinner at Lulus/Yumwok, where we got chow fun and general tso's chicken and that was cool and we got to hang out at Phantom after. I had no idea that Iron Dragon only costs $35. I would consider getting it, maybe, although I have no idea if I'll ever manage to get anyone to play with me anyway. Sigh. Nick said he would play sometime, so now I just have to find time and another player or two (and hope Kevin will let me borrow his set, or will play). Oh, and the Deities and Demigods book for 3E looks pretty sweet. If it wasn't $30 I would have probably picked it up today... as it is I guess I'll come back some other time. I sometimes feel bad about going to Phantom and just hanging out and looking at stuff, but I think Jeff actually recognizes me now since he always says hi, so I don't feel too bad about it.
After dinner and Phantom we went to bridge at Temple Sinai. I thought things went pretty poorly; it felt like every single board was an average-minus... but it turned out we actually did fairly well. I think we were 7th out of 12 pairs overall, which is pretty good considering it was a club championship game and stuff. We had a 47 percent game, and if I still had an ACBL membership would have picked up 1.33 masterpoints for being first place in the C division. I only had two major boards of stupidity (well, there were two that worked out really well too). One was where I went down in a cold four hearts contract because my brain decided to momentarily leave me, and another was where I bid 3NT after opening 2C... forgetting that with 24 points I should just bid 2NT... and Nick raised to 4NT thinking I had 25-27... and sadly I had 9 top tricks and went down one in 4NT. sad sad sad. :( But other than that most things were good. We had some really funny hands, especially this one where the bidding went something like, with RHO opening: 1S-X-P-P-2H-X-2S-X-AP. 2 down vulnerable for 500 and a top. :) Soooo bizarre, but my original double was really bad since I had 6 clubs and 5 hearts and 2 diamonds. Oh well.
So it was an enjoyable night - I always like playing bridge with Nick, and it is good to have a regular partner again after so long.
I called Bayani and Rebecca after bridge was out, but it turned out they had just left 4623... so, for anyone who cares, next Tuesday night (I'll send out mail) there'll be another IMSO meeting in Wean 4623. DDR on a big screen! Whee! Who can resist?

every time i want to play, nobody can, and every time kevin wants to play, i can't. bleh! I wonder if it would work as a Sunday dinner game if people knew about it in advance...
