Carnival, Day 1
So, after a 2-hour nap, we got up and went to campus, finding our way to the Kiltie concert, where we sat with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and
mygrane and listened to the band play pretty much entirely stuff that I did when I was with band too. (No Holst, no Vaughan-Williams. I wonder if Mr. Gerlach just doesn't want to deal with things like them anymore?) After the concert I saw Dan Fernandez and some other alums who are maybe kinda almost as old as me but not. And I said hi to Mr. G, and he asked how Seattle was (i'm so amazed he remembers people so much) and I told him I was in Japan for a while and stuff, and asked what to do with my baritone. He suggested I join a community band or donate it to the Salvation Army.
After that we wandered around Midway a bit and ran into a few people, and then walked around campus a bit, including the new Gates center, before going to the UC and then deciding that I wanted to go to Del's so we were going to Del's. We bussed there on the 54C and it was pretty easy (BUT PRICEY!!! TWO PEOPLE PLUS TRANSFERS IS $6.50?!?!)
Del's itself was great, as always it's an insane amount of food for the price. We got the "2 for $20" dinner deal and so Mike had ravioli with stuff and I had my eggplant parmesan, and a side of pasta, way too much food. And ice cream. And bread. And salad. Seriously.
We bussed back to campus, walked around Midway a little more, went to the UC, talked to some people, then decided we were both too tired and walked up to
rmitz's... we started getting ready to go to sleep and then people all arrived; first R&K&J, and then a bit later
blk and her posse of folks (including Stevie and Bolson), and then it came out that Sheena was arriving at midnightish and everyone was going to stay up to meet her, so we did too. I dunno, this is Carnival, it's what's supposed to happen, you run into lots of old friends. Shrug.
Now it is Friday morning and hopefully we'll be off to campus and Mobot in a little while...
