wheeeeeeeeeee jingu

I'm so tired. I have to get up in like 7 hours and do it all over again.

Swallows-Carp exhibition game at Jingu today. Got there a little after 11. Went in, didn't recognize people in Sec. D. Kozo arrived shortly after. I went out to participate in the "give money to Tohoku" thing; they had Yakult players out there and donation boxes, you essentially put money in a box and then could shake hands with several players depending on which line you picked. Yasushi Iihara wasn't out there when I went, so I basically saw Oshimoto and picked his line. It was him, Hashimoto, and Carp player rep Ishihara. What is funny is that Oshimoto and Hashimoto are former Fighters :) So I shook their hands and said "Ganbatte kudasai!" to all three of them. Shrug.

We had a bunch of friends up in the top of section D; me and Kozo and Ben and Simon and Mac and Mac's friend (Shomai?), as well as most of the usuals from the Japanese people who are kind enough to let us use the seats they save. Kentaro was going between both sides because he's crazy (he told me he wants to go live in Hiroshima for a few months this summer to avoid the power problems in Tokyo).

As for the game itself, to save power, there was no at-bat music, and no diversions between innings, no cheerleaders dancing, etc. All concessions closed after the 7th inning, and a bunch of gates weren't in use and a bunch of concessions weren't in use either. There were no animations on the scoreboard, just the scorekeeping.

And I guess out of the "we can't have too much fun while people in Tohoku are suffering" factor, the ouendan weren't allowed to use trumpets or drums. Of course, we still yelled and sang a ton anyway. So, shrug.

Swallows won the game 3-0, anyway. Osamu Hamanaka pinch-hit a homerun, and then proceeded to play left field and throw like a girl. Sigh.

Anyway, it was fun.

Afterwards, Mac and Ben and Kozo and I walked to Yoyogi Park, admired a bunch of hanami parties, hung out and talked for a while. Then Mac had to go, and so I convinced Ben and Kozo to come with me to the dim sum place in Ikebukuro that I wanted to go to. It's changed since before the earthquake -- no shabushabu, and instead of carts going around, you can get the cart food (like all the shumai and whatnot) by going up to the buffet area, where there was a cart with cart food. Either way it was still tasty and overly filling.

Then we went to Book-Off for a bit, and then did karaoke. I sang Amagi Goe for the first time. I don't really know how to sing enka. But it'd be fun to try more.

I got a little sunburned today despite putting on sunscreen. And some past sunburn on my left hand is turning into hives. I hate being allergic to my own sunburn :(

Nichidai Sanko lost their game, too :( At least I don't have to feel guilty that I'll be watching baseball at Jingu instead of watching Senbatsu. But I wish it could have been Kyukoku-Sanko in the finals rather than the semifinals. I'm hoping Kyukoku wins now.

And, the Baystars won today's game against the Tigers! But more importantly -- Takayuki Makka pitched 7 strong innings! I'm so proud of him. It means that there's like, zero chance I'll ever meet him again but -- I want him to do well! So that's great!
