You know

If there is one thing I have learned from my time in Japan, it is that it is stupider to ask permission to do something and call attention to the fact that you want to do it, which means people will actually be paying attention and tying to stop you, rather than just DO it and assume it is okay because nobody will notice if you do it anyway.

Yes, but I learned this in America.

If you look like you know what you're doing, people will assume that you're supposed to be there. Taking a line from the infamous Puff Daddy and changing the words a little: more questions more problems. ;)

I learned it from the US government.

They *say* it would have been better to ask permission, but would they really have granted it?

No idea, but she did get into some trouble for it. At the same time... she's leaving, ne?
