typhoons suck
So, I got invited by my friend Steve to come down to Nagoya for the Japan Series this weekend. (Steve actually lives in Chiba and is a big Marines fan, he writes the We Love Marines blog, and unlike me actually sticks to writing about one team rather than running all over the place.) He entered the ticket lottery and some auctions and whatnot a bunch and ended up with a ton of tickets to the games.
There's two problems with the idea of going to Nagoya, though. First, this weekend was Soukeisen, which I really want to go to, being as it's my last Soukeisen in theory, but also, I want to say goodbye to some of the Keio boys who are graduating this year (Nagasaki and Fuchigami in particular), maybe give them some Halloween stuff, try to get a photo with Daisuke, etc. Oh, and on the other side of it all, the Fighters just drafted Waseda's ace pitcher so in theory I should go watch his last college game. (I've seen him pitch for 4 years now, though. Inadvertantly by being a general Big 6 fan, I have more Yuki Saitoh stuff than one would really expect.)
Now, for today.. THERE IS A TYPHOON SO THE GAME IS GETTING RAINED OUT. But tomorrow is unknown.
Second, going to Nagoya would be kinda expensive -- I'm calculating on the order of 40,000 yen once I factor in shinkansen, hotel, baseball tickets, food, probly some souvenirs, etc. I *could* spend it, but...
It's kinda silly -- and I mean, I like Chunichi and I like Lotte. But on the other hand I am already planning to go to Game 3 with Steve and his friends here in Chiba, he got a picnic table off auctions, and that sounds like a ton of fun. (I just gotta figure out a way to get out of school early that day. Which is completely unlikely. ARGH.) Plus in Nagoya I'd have to cheer against the Dragons, which would make me kinda sad. I don't even know who I'm rooting for to win this Series, is the crazy part.
It's like, "Deanna, you could go to the first two games of the Japan Series and you're skipping it for one college ball game that may get rained out?"
Yeah. I suck.
Well, I have 4-5 hours more to think about it -- I have to decide really by about noon today, and get the shinkansen tickets. The other problem is that I have to leave Sunday night's game at 9:20pm no matter what, in order to get back here in time to go to school on Monday. Which also kinda sucks. Sigh.
As for Friday, not much to say outside of school (had a good day at school though). I had dinner from Katsuya, the katsu place near the station, and tried their katsu curry, and can categorically say that it is completely not worth eating there. I'll stick to katsudon. I really wish they had a damn Ichibanya near Akabane, dammit.
