An old contender has entered the fray!
I just mailed off the application for the December 5th JLPT. Fortunately, there is a post office near my JHS that could handle the money order and registered mail services for it, and we have two class periods of no English today, so I asked if I could take 20 minutes to go to the post office.
After failing 2-kyuu something like three times now because I suck at reading, but knowing that I am better than the 3-kyuu I am certified for, I am going to take the new N3 test, which is essentially the pre-2-kyuu test. I should have done that in July, but I was stupid and took and failed N2 then.
I don't think I am going to bother reregistering for JLPT classes though -- I won't really have the spare money to do it until late October, at which case there is only a month left until the test. I'm going to review my N2 materials on my own, and hopefully the N3 test from July will be out by November so I can take that test and see how it is, and maybe some more prep books will be updated by then too.
Also, I am tired and have no voice.
