serendipitous
Today was serendipitous!
I went downtown to get lunch with
genericman because I hadn't seen him yet this trip. He works at Amazon, so I convinced him we should go to Soup Daddy for lunch because I like SD. I got soup (southwestern corn chowder, yum!) and a salad, which was reasonably fast, but he got a sandwich which took forever. We don't really know why. On the other hand, Jason scheduled himself for a 2-hour lunch break, so we could take our time.
In the meantime,
pauldf was there with his group, so I got to talk to him for a bit too and catch up a little.
Also there is a "helper dog" that "works" at Soup Daddy, by which I mean it is just a big white dog that was hanging out while we were there, going from table to table trying to get petted. Since the place cleared out a lot by 1:30ish, one of the managers said it was her dog and the dog is now actually licensed as a helper dog and is thus legal for being in an eating establishment (dogs are apparently allowed many places in Seattle but places that serve food can only have helper dogs? something like that?). The dog could obviously follow commands like "go sit on a chair", which it did, and I got a photo of it reading a newspaper:

After lunch, I walked Jason back to the Amazon offices, and then I decided rather than taking the trolley, I would just walk back downtown.
So I start walking. 2-3 blocks down the road, I'm going by a cafe and I look in and I see a guy with long blonde hair in a ponytail and glasses and I'm thinking "That looks a lot like Carl. Wait a minute, that IS Carl!" So I went in and said hi, we were both like "WTF are you doing here?" and it turned out he was busy and ended up taking a late lunch. So I got a Snapple and hung out with him for another half hour while he ate his lunch, we sat outside at the cafe and it was nice. Yay for running into people.
I went to the Mariners store and got omiyage for my coworkers. I hope Mariners pens are acceptable. They aren't edible, but basically, all individually-wrapped edibles seem to be chocolate, which isn't going to make it back to my house in Japan let alone my school, in the heat.
Anyway, I took the bus back to MS and got Mike's car and went home. A few hours later I picked him up at MS again, we played catch for a little while and got Pagliacci's pizza and came home and played some videogames and stuff, we've been playing Lego Harry Potter because he likes those games. We also watched the "Dug's Secret Mission" short on the Up DVD yesterday, which is cute -- and we also watched Land of the Rising Fastball, the movie that I was interviewed for two years ago. It's really embarrassing to see myself on the screen.
Hmm, I guess that's about it for now.
