Friday

Not a particularly exciting Friday evening. I stayed at school until 7pm for various reasons, then came back to Akabane and ran some errands (Daiso for a B4 folder, Viva Home for some bug spray, Dan Bookstore for some baseball magazines, etc). Got dinner at Katsuya -- the current special is called "Ra-yu Katsudon", so I thought I would try it -- turns out it's a bit too spicy for my likes. Alas.

Then rather than studying, I goofed off on PP and crashed around 11pm, and slept for 12 hours. I mean, I woke up several times during the night but all in all did not get out of bed until 11am.

Two things about that:

1) I got the latest Shukan Baseball because it was the bright green denoting "DRAFT ISSUE!!!" which are always the ones I make a point to get since I use them later during the draft itself to figure out who the hell everyone is. I thought I'd see what they had to say about Kagami too, I'm really wondering if he'll get drafted in the fall... and I thumb through the color profiles in the first pages of the magazine. High school kid, high school kid, and OH MY GOD THERE IS KAGAMI in a 3-page profile, one full-page photo of him standing in front of the Hosei baseball team dorm, bunch of pictures of him working out with College Team Japan even though he wasn't ultimately chosen. Holy crap! But in the subsequent draft list pages, the only team listing him on their short list was Yokohama (he's from Kanagawa anyway). And he's in the list of "Group 2 candidates" -- they organized the list into 5 Group 1 guys, 5 Group 2 guys, 14 Group 3 guys, and then "everyone else" for a list of 100. My #2 favorite college pitcher Ohishi is in Group 1. God I hope the Giants don't get him.

2) The bug spray is because the bug bites I have are almost all from ticks/mites that are living in my room. I keep putting bug repellent on my feet/legs when I'm home and when I sleep.. I've sprayed under my bed and into my mattress a few times, and that seems to keep them at bay for like a day or so, but I'm sure some of them are living in my sock drawer and things like that. Last year, they just kind of all disappeared in September for unknown reasons, so I'm hoping if I just keep spraying things, I can at least keep my legs from getting QUITE as bad as they were last year, when it seriously looked like I had chicken pox. Only the legs of course -- why the hell do these things have no interest in anywhere else? (Not that it is necessarily a bad thing but itchy feet are really annoying when you walk as much as I do.) I have two bug bites on my arms and I think those are from mosquitoes at school, basically.

After Jenny leaves in 2 days I will have space to hang out blankets and sheets and things so I'll try to do some mass washing and some more spraying, and then it's just a matter of surviving until I get back to the US later this month.

Which may be an adventure in itself... my company submitted a visa renewal for me and said "You'll be getting the stamp between July 29 and August 12" and I'm like "Uh, I'm leaving the country on July 26." This could be bad.

I think it's whatever is closest to the floor. My hands and arms are getting attacked too, which has to be happening while I'm asleep... on the floor...
