How were you shooting? One shot at a time, or using an option to do several quick exposures at once?

Well, I have a Nikon D200 and I can do several exposures in a row, BUT it's not THAT fast. I just got really lucky with this shot. I can usually get a decent "mid-swing" shot of a guy, but I've been trying harder to time it so I watch the pitcher and the batter and actually get the batter at the moment the ball hits the bat. This was a REALLY lucky one.

I was at a minor league game last month and one guy broke a bat. The broken portion landed about 15 feet away from me...pretty scary, I think it was spinning some too.

Great shot. Since I don't follow baseball, I was not aware of the danger of broken bats, but they sound pretty scary indeed.

Fortunately, in Japan they overprotect the fans by putting huge fences in front of the field everywhere.
